CFS1

CFS1 solvent-borne stain binder (for spray application)

Solvent-borne (ОР) stain binder intended for SPRAY application (0–200 % on the dye). It goes into the dye concentrate before thinning: evens out colour, gives the stain the rheology suited to the application method and improves adhesion of the next coat. For roller application the range has CFS3, for wiping CFS4 (200–400 %); water-borne equivalents are CFH1 (spray), CFH2 (dipping), CFH3 (roller), CFH6 (wiping); for CIT «Kromoroller» there are also CIC11/CIC12.

  • Spray-staining veneer and solid wood with solvent CTU, CLT, CPS, CIT dyes
  • CPS9/CPS10 pigment stains — their cards list CFS1 (0–400 %); for wiping/pore highlighting the catalog points to CFS4, for roller to CFS3
  • Staining mouldings/frames on a UV line ahead of VTS40041 UV sealer
  • Staining raised-panel doors ahead of PTS20 PU primer

CTU universal transparent dyes (every colour). The card lists the binder as «CFS1 / CFH1»: CFS1 for solvent-thinned stain, CFH1 for water-thinned.

The 2022 catalog gives CTU with CFS1 only, 0–200 %. CTU over a primer coat must be solvent-thinned (official card).

CLT1–CLT9 «Kromolux» dyes thinned with solvent (binder «CFS1/CFH1»).

Per the Milesi TDS the CLT series is a «stain without binder»; CFS1 goes in when you want more even colour and the dye locked down. CLT11, CLT12 and CLT18 cards name no binder.

  • CLT10dye_partner
    % by weight: 0–200 % of dyeofficial% by volume: 0–200 % of dyeofficial

    White CLT10 — CFS1 only (it can't be water-thinned, so CFH1 is out).

Milesi CLT TDS: «CLT10 can't be diluted with water».

CPS9 (black) and CPS10 (white) solvent pigment concentrates: their cards list CFS1 as the only binder, 0–400 %. The catalog clarifies that CFS1 is the spray binder; for wiping to pick out pores use CFS4, for roller CFS3.

    2022 catalog: CPS binder «CFS1, CFS3, CFS4 — 0–400 %». Binder table (catalog): CFS1 spray 0–200 %, CFS3 roller 200–400 %, CFS4 wiping 200–400 %. 2025-26 catalog: «with the special binder it can be wiped on» — that is CFS4, not CFS1.

    CIT «Kromoroller» dyes (binder «CIC11/CIC12/CFS1», 0–40 %). CIT8's card doesn't list CFS1 (CIC11/CIC12/LZC97).

For wiping CIT has its own binder CIC12 (20–30 % into the ready stain, per the dealer).

Why this binder
CFS4 — РАСТИРАНИЕ 200-400 % (CFS1 — РАСПЫЛЕНИЕ 0-200 %)catalog

«Spray then wipe» is listed on the CPS/CIT cards. For wiping the catalog provides a separate binder, CFS4 (200–400 %); CFS1 is the spray binder. Wipe off along the grain and leave the pigment in the pores.

Roller

Consumption
10–20 g/m² (CPS); 5–15 g/m² for CITofficial

Roller-coater application on a line (CPS 10–20 g/m², CIT 5–15 g/m²). For roller the catalog lists binder CFS3 (200–400 %), not CFS1.

Don'ts
  • Don't thin a CFS1 mix with water — use CFH1 for water-borne stain
  • Don't exceed 200 % on CTU/CLT, 400 % on CPS pigment stains (40 % on CIT)
  • CFS1 isn't the first choice for roller or wiping — the catalog gives CFS3 (roller) and CFS4 (wiping)
  • No need to leave the stain overnight — schedules prime after a 5-minute flash

Storage

Safety: Solvent-borne: flammable, vapours harmful. Spray in a booth with extraction and an A-filter respirator; keep away from ignition sources. (General solvent-coating rules — no SDS for CFS1 found.)
