CIT23

CIT23 Kromoroller stain, Old Walnut

Pigmented stain from the Kromoroller range (made by MILESI, distributed by Technocolor) in an 'old walnut' shade — a ready wood tone, unlike the other CIT colours, which are base colours for tinting. Apply by spray, spray-and-wipe, or wipe-on. Evens out colour variation in the substrate very well. Works on any wood; best results on hard open-grain species such as oak and ash. Thinned with S90 slow stain thinner. There is no official t-color.ru page — data comes from the t-colormarket.ru dealer only.

  • Walnut-toning solid wood and veneer
  • Evening out colour variation (sapwood/heartwood, mismatched veneer batches)
  • Spray and spray-and-wipe (80–100 g/m²)
  • Hand wipe-on (40–60 g/m²) to accent the pores on oak and ash
  • Under clear NC, PU, PE and UV finishes (per the series properties)

WARNING: the other CIT colours are officially 500–2000 %. 20 % for CIT23 means either it's sold close to ready-to-use (its price, 2,285 ₽/l vs 7,584 ₽/l for CIT2, hints at that) or it's a dealer typo. Always do a test panel.

Sanding
Don't sand the stained wood — you'll cut through the colour. Per the coffin schedule: stain → 2 coats of ETS50 primer (30–40 min between coats, then 8–12 h at 20 °C) → sand P360, P400.schedule

Don'ts
  • Don't apply without a test panel — the right dilution for CIT23 is unclear
  • Don't flood end grain and edges — they go darker
  • Don't seal before the solvent has flashed off (min. 5–10 min at 20 °C)
  • Don't forget to stir — the pigment settles

Not covered by the sources
  • No official t-color.ru page for CIT23; not in the 2025–2026 catalog transcripts
  • Dealer page has no 'Все технические характеристики' block: viscosity, solids, density unknown (siblings: CIT2 73±4 s VZ-6, CIT9 30±2 s VZ-6, CIT9280 65±4 s VZ-4 — not transferred)
  • Thinner ratio conflict: dealer says S90 20 % by weight (volume blank, re-checked 2026-10-05) vs 500–2000 % for every other CIT colour — unresolved; true concentration of CIT23 unknown
  • S90 % by volume — not given
  • Whether S10/S12 and binders CIC11/CIC12/CFS1 apply to CIT23 — not stated (carried over from the series as derived)
  • Roller-coater (5–15 g/m²) suitability not stated for CIT23 despite the 'Kromoroller' name
  • Drying times (dust-free/touch/full) beyond the schedule's generic 5–10 min — unknown
  • Shelf life, storage temperature — unknown
  • No technical data sheet (ТДС) or SDS found; web search budget exhausted, woodonline.ru search returns nothing, lakokraska31.ru search inconclusive
  • Nozzle/pressure, spray viscosity, coats and thinner choice are derived, not Technocolor data
  • Official sibling pages also list LZC97 as a thinner (S10/S12/S90/LZC97); not carried over to CIT23 here
