CPS1
CPS1 Solvent-borne pigment stain, yellow (base concentrate)
Yellow solvent-borne pigment stain, a base concentrate of the CPS series. High hiding power, evens out colour variation and masks wood defects, levels well and is lightfast. Let down 5-20x with S10/S12/S90; with the wiping binder CFS4 (per catalog; CFS1 is the spray binder) it can be sprayed and wiped to highlight the pores of open-grain wood. Mixes with the other CPS colours and solvent-borne stains — mostly used as a tinter to warm up a shade (oak, pine, walnut) and to build custom colours.
- Staining furniture in any wood species
- Tinting other CPS colours and solvent-borne stains (CTU) — warming the tone
- Evening out colour variation, imitating valuable species
- Pore highlighting on oak/ash (wipe-on with CFS4 binder)
- Roller-staining flat panels on a line

Same ratio as on the official CPS9/CPS10 pages of the same series and in the 2022 catalog (500-2000 %).

2025/26 catalog gives 500-1000 % for the CPS series; dealer, official CPS9/CPS10 cards and the 2022 catalog allow up to 2000 %. Above 1000 % is for very light toning.

S10 — fast, strong solvency (stains on fine-pore wood); S12 — medium evaporation (medium-pore); S90 — slow evaporation (open-grain wood).
- CFS1Additive% by weight: 0–400 %dealer% by volume: 0–400 %dealer
Solvent binder for spraying (dealer's name; catalog binder table: CFS1 — spray, 0-200 %). Evens out colour, fixes the pigment and improves adhesion of the next coat. For wiping the catalog gives CFS4, for roller CFS3.
CPS cards allow CFS1 up to 400 %, the catalog binder table says up to 200 % for spraying. Without binder — plain spray staining. CFS1 itself is not currently found at the dealer (page 404).
- % by weight: 0–400 %catalog
CFS1 for spraying (0-200 %); CFS3 for roller (200-400 %); CFS4 for wiping/pore highlighting (200-400 %). CFS3/CFS4 appear in catalogs only, not found at the dealer.
- CFC3Additive% by weight: 200 %schedule
Staining flat (anegre veneer) panels under a UV system, 60-80 g/m² (application method not stated in the schedule).
CFC3 appears nowhere else — likely a typo/variant of the roller binder (CFS3). Confirm with Technocolor.
- S90Thinner% by weight: 200 %schedule

Record tint ratios by weight; add CPS1 in small doses (1-5 % into a brown) — yellow takes over the tone fast.

CPS1 is a concentrate: never spray it neat — let it down with S10/S12/S90 first (500-2000 %). Stir well, the pigment settles; keep shaking the cup as you go. One even wet coat, no puddles; go lighter on end grain. Diluted yellow is subtle but easy to overdo on pale woods — always do a test panel on an offcut of the same species. To wipe: spray, wait 1-3 min, wipe along the grain with a sponge or lint-free rag (for wiping the catalog specifies the CFS4 binder).
Cloth or pad
- Consumption
- 80–100 g/m²dealer
Wiping with a sponge or soft rag removes the excess after application (Technocolor's method definition). For a pore-highlight effect on oak/ash the catalog specifies the wiping binder CFS4 (200-400 %); CFS1 is the spray binder.
Roller coater (UV)
- Consumption
- 10–20 g/m²dealer
Flat parts on a roller-coater line only; catalog roller binder is CFS3 (200-400 %). In the official UV schedule (anegre veneer) the stain flashes 5 min at 20-25 °C before VTS20011 UV filler; the stain's application method isn't stated there.
