CPS25
CPS25 Solvent-borne pigment stain, Mahogany
Solvent-borne pigment wood stain in a mahogany shade. Evens out colour variation, masks wood defects, levels well and is lightfast. Gives a red-brown mahogany tone. Spray, spray-and-wipe or roller coat; let down with S10/S12/S31/S90 at 200-1000 % (2-10 parts thinner to 1 part stain).
- Staining furniture in any wood species
- Veneer and solid wood in a mahogany look
- Evening out colour variation (alder, birch, beech, anegre)
- Pore highlighting on oak/ash when wiped with a binder

Answers are based on the CPS25 data and the products it mixes with.
Mixing matrix
- % by weight: 200–1000 (typ. 400) %dealer% by volume: 200–1000 %dealer
S10 — fast, for fine-pore wood (beech, birch, maple, alder); S12 — medium, for medium-pore wood; S90 — slow, for open-grain wood (oak, ash) and big panels, more working time for wiping; S31 — general medium-evaporation thinner (mainly PU/acrylic/UV), which the dealer also allows for CPS25.
Dealer lists S10 / S12 / S31 / S90 at 200-1000 % by weight and by volume. Always make a test panel — the shade depends on species and dilution.
- % by weight: 500–1000 %catalog
S10 — fine-pore wood; S12 — medium-pore; S90 — open-grain wood and large areas.
2025/26 catalog figure for the whole CPS series (2022 catalog and the official CPS9 page give 500-2000 %). For CPS25 the dealer gives 200-1000 % — use that.
- CFS1Additive% by weight: 20–40 %dealer% by volume: 20–40 %dealer
Solvent binder — for wipe-on pore highlighting and to lock the pigment before priming.
Given by the dealer for CPS22/CPS23 (sibling ready colours); the CPS25 page lists no binder — use by analogy after a test.
- % by weight: 0–400 %catalog
The 2022 catalog lists CFS1, CFS3, CFS4 at 0-400 % for the CPS series without splitting them by method. From the binder records: CFS1 for spraying, CFS3 for roller, CFS4 for wiping.
- CFC3Additive% by weight: 200 %schedule
Roller coating flat anegre-veneer panels under a UV system, 60-80 g/m².
The schedule says 'CPS' with no colour. CFC3 is not described anywhere else (no page, not sold by the dealer); from the recipe it is a stain binder for UV systems (possibly a typo for CFS3, the roller binder). Confirm with Technocolor.
- S90Thinner% by weight: 200 %schedule
UV schedule, roller application.
- % by weight: any ratio %catalog
Shade matching: the catalog says CPS 'mixes perfectly with other solvent-borne stains'. Hints (derived): CPS9 to darken, CPS3 for more red, CPS22 to push towards walnut.

Stir thoroughly — the pigment settles. Keep shaking/stirring the cup while you work. Lay one even wet coat, no puddles; go lighter on end grain (it drinks more and goes darker). To wipe: spray, give it 1-3 min, then wipe along the grain with a sponge or lint-free rag, packing pigment into the pores (pore-highlight effect on open-grain wood — needs a binder: 2022 catalog CFS1/CFS3/CFS4 0-400 %, dealer for CPS22/23 CFS1 20-40 %).
Cloth or pad
Wiping with a sponge or soft rag removes the excess after spraying (the catalog's method definition). For the pore-highlight effect on open-grain wood (oak/ash) a binder is required (catalog: 'when using a special binder').
Roller coater (UV)
Flat parts on a roller-coater line only. In the official UV schedule the stain flashes 5 min at 20-25 °C before VTS20011 UV filler.
