CPS037

CPS037 solvent-borne pigment stain, Red Wood («Красное дерево»)

Ready-to-spray solvent-borne pigment stain in 'Red Wood' (красное дерево). Evens out colour variation and masks wood defects, levels the colour well, good lightfastness. Supplied practically at working strength — thin 0-100 % with S10/S12/S90. Spray 80-100 g/m², dry 20 min, then sealer and topcoat. Can be intermixed with the rest of the CPS range to hit a custom shade.

  • Staining furniture in any wood species
  • Red-wood toning of pale species (beech, birch, alder, anegre) — example, not from a source
  • Evening out colour variation on solid wood and veneer
  • Under the PU system PTS20 → PTL20 SM (dealer instruction)

S10 — fast, for fine-pore wood (beech, birch, maple, alder); S12 — medium, for medium-pore wood; S90 — slow, for open-grain wood (oak, ash) and big panels, gives more working time for wiping.

CPS037 comes practically ready to use: 0-100 % thinner (dealer gives the same figure by weight and by volume). Dose thinner for colour strength, not viscosity.

2025/26 catalog figure for the whole CPS series — meant for the concentrates. Not for CPS037, which is already at working strength; the dealer's 0-100 % takes priority.

  • CFS1 / CFS3 / CFS4Additive
    % by weight: 0–400 %catalog

CFS1 for spraying (0-200 %), CFS3 for roller coating (200-400 %), CFS4 for wiping (200-400 %) per the older Technocolor catalog; the 2022 catalog gives one 0-400 % range. The dealer (CPS9 page) calls CFS1 'solvent binder for spraying', 0-400 %.

Binders are given in the catalog for the series as a whole; the CPS037 dealer page doesn't list them. Adding binder also weakens the colour.

  • CFC3Additive
    % by weight: 200 %schedule

Roller-coating flat (anegre veneer) panels under a UV system, 60-80 g/m².

CFC3 appears only in this UV schedule: no t-color.ru page, dealer search empty. From the recipe it is a stain binder for UV lines (possibly related to the roller binder CFS3); confirm with Technocolor. Schedule ratio is for the generic 'CPS' series; with ready-to-use CPS037 the same ratio will give a very pale tone.

  • S90Thinner
    % by weight: 200 %schedule

    UV schedule, roller application.

Schedule ratio is for the generic 'CPS' series; with ready-to-use CPS037 the same ratio will give a very pale tone.

For a custom shade: 'materials within a series can be mixed'; also mix well with other solvent-borne stains (CTU).

Stir thoroughly — the pigment settles. Keep shaking/stirring the cup while you work. Lay one even wet coat, no puddles; go lighter on end grain (it drinks more and goes darker). To wipe: spray, give it 1-3 min, then wipe along the grain with a sponge or lint-free rag, packing pigment into the pores (pore-highlight effect on open-grain wood — needs the wiping binder CFS4, 200-400 % per the older catalog).

Applicability
optional, series-levelrecommended

The CPS037 dealer page lists spraying only. Wiping with a sponge/rag right after spraying is fine (as for the whole series) — it lifts the excess and evens the tone across patchy veneer.

Roller coater (UV)

Series-level only (official CPS9 page and the UV anegre schedule). Not listed for CPS037; on a roller line, set the mix from a test panel.
