CPS017
CPS017 Solvent-borne pigment wood stain, 'Beech' colour
Ready-to-use solvent-borne pigment wood stain from the CPS series, 'Beech' shade. Good hiding, evens out colour variation and masks wood defects, lightfast. Comes almost ready to spray: add 0-100 % S10/S12/S90 thinner. Used for staining furniture in any species — e.g. pulling birch, alder, pine or patchy beech lamella stock to an even 'beech' tone. Intermixes with other CPS colours and solvent-borne stains.
- Staining furniture in any wood species
- Evening out colour variation in glued-up solid and veneer (beech, birch, alder)
- Imitating beech on cheaper light species
- Tinting other solvent-borne CPS/CTU stains

Mixing matrix
- % by weight: 0–100 (typ. [object Object]) %dealer% by volume: 0–100 %dealer
S10 — fast: stains on fine-pore wood (beech, birch, maple, alder) — the go-to for CPS017 on beech, avoids blotching; S12 — medium evaporation: medium-pore wood; S90 — slow: open-grain wood (oak, ash). (Extra, not from the catalog: S12 also in hot shops, S90 for big panels and wipe-on work.)
Thinner sets the colour strength: more thinner, lighter tone.
- % by weight: 500–1000 %catalog
2025/26 catalog figure for the whole CPS block (the catalog doesn't split concentrates and ready colours). Most likely meant for the concentrates (official CPS9 page: 500-2000 %); for ready-made CPS017 the dealer gives 0-100 %.
Source conflict: don't let CPS017 down 5-10x — the colour will all but vanish.
- CFS1Additive% by weight: 0–400 %official% by volume: 0–400 %official
Solvent binder — for wipe-on work, better pigment lock-in and pore highlighting. For CPS017 stay near 20-40 %, as given for the ready colours CPS22/23.
CPS017's own dealer page lists no binder — carried over from the CPS series.
- CFS1Additive% by weight: 20–40 %dealer% by volume: 20–40 %dealer
CPS ready colours: binder for spray/roller/wipe.
- CFC3Additive% by weight: 200 %schedule
Roller-coating flat veneered panels under a UV system, 60-80 g/m².
The schedule names 'CPS' without a colour code. CFC3 appears nowhere else (possibly CFS3). With ready-made CPS017 this let-down will lighten the shade — test first.
- S90Thinner% by weight: 200 %schedule
UV schedule, roller coater.
- % by weight: to required shade (no ratio given) %catalog
Shade matching: colours within the series intermix and blend with other solvent-borne stains (CTU). E.g. a touch of CPS3/CPS2 for a pinker beech, CPS010 for warmer/darker.

Stir well before and during work — the pigment settles. One even wet coat, no puddles; go light on end grain or it goes dark. On beech/birch use fast S10 to avoid blotching.
