CLT3

CLT3 Kromolux stain concentrate, red

Highly concentrated transparent wood stain (dye) with no binder. Very even colour; at higher concentration it goes dark while staying transparent. Thins with water or with solvent, with or without a binder. Can be overcoated with polyester, polyurethane and nitro lacquers.

  • Spray staining of all wood species
  • Furniture, profiles, frames, general wooden articles
  • Tinting: blend with other CLT colours to hit a target shade

Mixing matrix

  • S10 / S12 / S90 / LZC97 / waterThinner
    % by weight: 500–1000 %official% by volume: 500–1000 %official

    Standard spray dilution, 80–100 g/m²

S10 = fast (official: also a gun/equipment wash; dealer calls it a polyester thinner; SG 0.790, same as Milesi's acetone thinner LZC1000), S12 = nitro thinner, officially 'suited to diluting stains', S90 = slow stain thinner (dealer). LZC97 = Milesi slow thinner for CIT roller stains (SG 0.918). Water — deionised only.

  • S10 / S12 / S90 / waterThinner
    % by weight: 500–1000 %dealer% by volume: 500–1000 %dealer

    Dealer (t-colormarket) mixing table

If cutting with water use deionised water only, otherwise the dye flocculates and colour stability suffers. The dealer labels the binders 'CFH1 / CFS1 — solvent / water', but official schedules pair CFS1 with S12 (solvent) and CFH1 with water (CTH, CPH dyes), so CFS1 = solvent, CFH1 = water.

  • CFS1 / CFH1Additive
    % by weight: 0–200 %official% by volume: 0–200 %official

    Binder: CFS1 for solvent-cut stain, CFH1 for water-cut stain

Binder is optional (0 %). Gives better dye lock-down, less bleeding into the sealer and a more even tone on end grain.

  • LZC1000 / LZC1024 / LZC97 / LTC5 / waterThinner
    % by weight: 500–800 %datasheet

Milesi TDS dilution for manual and automatic spraying

For rotating carousel automatics the TDS gives 700–1500 %. LZC1000/LZC1024/LTC5 are Milesi thinner codes; t-color.ru lists S10/S12/S90/LZC97/water for CLT3. LZC1000 = Milesi fast acetone thinner (spray stains, gun-wash, polyester), LZC1024 = nitro thinner, LZC97 = slow thinner for roller stains.

Process and compatibility

Substrate preparation
Sand the wood P150–P180–P220 (profiles with K60–K80 pads), de-dust. For water-cut stain, pre-raise the grain with water, dry and knock back with P220–P240.recommended
Sanding
Never sand the stain coat; first sand after the first sealer coat (P240–P320).recommended
Temperature and humidity
20 °C, 70 % RH (TDS test conditions); store at 18–25 °Cdatasheet
Don'ts
  • Do not cut with tap water — deionised only
  • Do not flood it on — with no binder the excess bleeds into the sealer
  • Do not overcoat a water-cut stain before 8 h (or without the 60 °C force-dry)
  • Do not sand the stain coat

Safety: Concentrate and S10/S12/S90 thinners are flammable: spray in a booth with extraction, wear an A-filter (organic vapour) respirator and nitrile gloves. The dye stains skin and clothing badly.

  • solids_pct — not published (TDS 'Solid content' field blank; stain without binder)
  • lightfastness rating (blue wool) — not published
  • official nozzle/pressure — none published; all spray settings are derived
  • ready-to-use viscosity — TDS field blank; derived only
  • conflict: consumption 80–100 g/m² (t-color.ru/dealer) vs 5–20 g/m² (Milesi TDS)
  • CFS1/CFH1 binder data (solids, own TDS) not obtained; LZC97 identified from milesi_LZC.pdf as a slow thinner for CIT roller stains (SG 0.918), so its 50–100 % share in the TDS suggested dilutions acts as a retarder
  • Milesi binders CLC20 (water) / CLC30 (solvent) appear in the TDS property table but no ratios for them are given
  • no SDS / hazard classification for CLT3

  • no official finishing schedule uses CLT3
  • dealer binder labels (CFH1/CFS1 = ОР/ВР) contradict the official schedules (CFS1 with solvent, CFH1 with water); file follows the schedules
