CLT7

CLT7 Kromolux wood dye, classic walnut

Concentrated transparent wood dye (stain) from the Kromolux range by MILESI, no binder, classic-walnut shade. Very even colour and high clarity; the high strength gives deep dark tones while the grain still shows through. Reduce 500–1000 % with solvent thinner (S10/S12/S90/LZC97) or deionised water, with or without CFS1/CFH1 binder (up to 200 %). Intermixes with the other dyes of the series in any ratio. Can be topcoated with polyester, polyurethane and nitrocellulose lacquers.

  • Staining any timber — veneer and solid
  • Furniture, mouldings, frames, general joinery — spray
  • Walnut tone on pale timber (beech, birch, alder, pine, oak)
  • Shade matching mixed with the other CLT dyes

    Always — CLT7 is supplied as a concentrate. 500 % for a deep, dark walnut; 1000 % for a light tint.

Official line: 'S10/S12/S90/LZC97/water 500–1000 %'. The dealer gives the same range for S10/S12/S90/water and does not mention LZC97.

  • S10Thinner
    % by weight: 500–1000 %official% by volume: 500–1000 %official

Fast, strong thinner — for staining close-grained timber (beech, birch, maple, alder, cherry), small parts, a cool shop.

Thinner roles per the thinner table in the Technocolor 2025–2026 catalog.

  • S12Thinner
    % by weight: 500–1000 %official% by volume: 500–1000 %official

Medium evaporation — for medium-pore timber (walnut, mahogany); the all-round choice for hand spraying. Technocolor's stain schedules use S12.

Thinner roles per the thinner table in the Technocolor 2025–2026 catalog.

  • S90Thinner
    % by weight: 500–1000 %official% by volume: 500–1000 %official

Slow — for open-pore timber (oak, ash, anegre), big panels, shop above ~25 °C: gives the dye time to soak into the pores, fewer stripes and lap marks.

Thinner roles per the thinner table in the Technocolor 2025–2026 catalog.

  • WATERThinner
    % by weight: 500–1000 %official% by volume: 500–1000 %official

Water-borne stain: less smell/VOC, pops the figure more, but raises the grain and dries slowly (8 h before sealer per the TDS).

Deionised water only — tap water makes the dye flocculate and hurts colour stability (dealer note). With water use only the water-borne binder CFH1 (CFS1 is the solvent binder).

  • LZC97Thinner
    % by weight: 500–1000 %official% by volume: 500–1000 %official

As a co-solvent alongside the main thinner or water — in the CLT TDS LZC97 is a small share of the blend (0.5–1 part per part of dye), not used alone. The Milesi LZC-series TDS describes LZC97 as a slow thinner for roller stains (CIT series).

No LZC97 page on t-color.ru or at the dealer. Description from the Milesi LZC-series TDS (SG 0.918, slow).

  • LZC97 / LZC1000Thinner
    % by weight: 1 : 0.5 : 9.5 (CLT : LZC97 : LZC1000) — 1000 % totaldatasheet

    Manufacturer's (Milesi) suggested solvent dilution.

LZC1000 is not in the Technocolor range. Per the Milesi LZC TDS it is a fast acetone-based thinner (SG 0.790) for gun cleaning, spray stains and polyester; nearest Technocolor equivalent by purpose is S10 (fast, for stains).

  • LZC97 / WATERThinner
    % by weight: 1 : 1 : 14 (CLT : LZC97 : water) — 1500 % totaldatasheet

    Manufacturer's suggested water dilution.

    Deionised water. 1500 % is beyond Technocolor's official 1000 % ceiling — expect a lighter tone.

  • CFS1Additive
    % by weight: 0–200 %official% by volume: 0–200 %official

Solvent-borne spray binder — with S10/S12/S90: the sealer doesn't drag the dye, more even colour on end grain, less grain raising.

0 % is allowed. CFS1 is the 'Связующее ОР для распыления' (solvent-borne spray binder) — stated outright on the dealer's CPS10 page, which lists CFS1 alone. On the CLT7 page the dealer lists codes 'CFH1 / CFS1' against labels 'solvent / water' in swapped order — don't be misled.

  • CFH1Additive
    % by weight: 0–200 %official% by volume: 0–200 %official

Water-borne spray binder — when CLT7 is reduced with deionised water.

Don't put CFH1 into a solvent-reduced batch. CFH1 is the 'Связующее ВР для распыления' (water-borne spray binder): the water-only CPH dyes (e.g. CPH9) list CFH1 only, and the dealer labels CFS1 as the solvent binder.

  • CFS1 / S12Additive
    % by weight: CTU 100 : CFS1 200 : S12 500 %schedule

    'Panel doors, PU' schedule — dye + binder under a PU system, 80–100 g/m², 5 min at 20–25 °C.

The schedule names CTU, not CLT; CLT7 is the same class (transparent concentrate, same S10/S12/S90 at 500–1000 %, CFS1 0–200 %, 80–100 g/m²), and the recipe sits inside CLT7's official ranges.

  • CFS1 / S12Additive
    % by weight: CTU 100 : CFS1 150 : S12 500 %schedule

'Mouldings and frames, UV' schedule — 80 g/m², 5 min at 25–30 °C before the UV sealer.

Analogue: the schedule uses CTU, not CLT (see above).

Percentages are per 100 parts of component A.
