CLT51
CLT51 Kromolux dye concentrate, cherry
Highly concentrated transparent dye (binder-free stain) from Milesi's Kromolux series in cherry. Very clear and even; at higher strength it goes dark while staying transparent. Dilutes with water or solvent, with or without a binder, and intermixes with any other Kromolux dye to hit a tone.
- Staining all kinds of timber, veneer and solid
- Furniture, fronts, mouldings and frames, general wooden articles
- Cherry-toning light timbers (beech, birch, alder) and matching colour under PE, PU and NC lacquers

Mixing matrix
- S10Thinner% by weight: 500–1000 %dealer% by volume: 500–1000 %dealer
Fast, strong thinner — for fine-pored timber (beech, birch, maple, alder) and short flash-off between operations.
Thinner selection per the Technocolor 2025–2026 catalog thinner table. S10 is also the gun-cleaning solvent per its official page.
- S12Thinner% by weight: 500–1000 %dealer% by volume: 500–1000 %dealer
Medium evaporation — medium-pored timber (cherry, walnut, tight ash); the default for a solvent-borne stain.
S12 is the dye thinner per its official page, and it is the thinner used in the dye steps of the official schedules. The dealer also pairs S12 with CLT51 as a companion item.
- S90Thinner% by weight: 500–1000 %dealer% by volume: 500–1000 %dealer
Slow — open-pored timber (oak, ash), large panels, hot shop: stays wet longer, fewer blotches and lap marks.
The CLT51 dealer table lists S90 explicitly ('slow dye thinner'), 500–1000 % by weight and volume; the dealer also pairs S90 under 'you will need with this item'.
- WATERThinner% by weight: 500–1000 %official% by volume: 500–1000 %official
Water dilution — less odour/VOC, raises the grain more and dries much slower (Milesi TDS: 8 h at 20 °C vs. minutes on solvent).
Deionised (distilled) water only — tap water makes the dye flocculate and lose colour stability (dealer note). Before a water stain, raise the grain with a damp sponge, dry and denib at P180–P220. The dealer table has water in the same row ('…/ water', 500–1000 %); sibling CLT4's official page lists water with the same range.
- LZC97Thinner% by weight: 500–1000 %official% by volume: 500–1000 %official
Listed by Technocolor as a thinner. The Milesi TDS uses LZC97 as a small-share co-solvent alongside the main thinner (see the TDS rows).
LZC97's exact function is not documented by Technocolor; no product page.
- CFS1Additive% by weight: 0–200 %dealer% by volume: 0–200 %dealer
Binder for the solvent-borne stain (with S10/S12/S90): locks the dye in, less bleeding/lifting when the sealer goes on, more even colour on end grain.
Role: binder. CFS1 = solvent-borne and CFH1 = water-borne follows from the schedules (CFS1 paired with S12, CFH1 with water); the dealer's ОР/ВР labels are listed in the opposite order.
- CFH1Additive% by weight: 0–200 %dealer% by volume: 0–200 %dealer
Binder for the water-diluted stain.
0 % = plain dye stain; with binder the colour holds better under the sealer.

Raised-panel doors (PU): stain 80–100 g/m², 5 min at 20–25 °C, then PTS20+C25+S50 sealer.

The CLT series (sibling codes) sits in the same 'Universal dyes' section on t-color.ru; CLT51 itself has no page, so the recipe is carried over as a guide; that mapping is our interpretation, not an explicit CLT51 instruction.

Open-pore oak kitchen fronts: stain 80–100 g/m², 20 min at 20–25 °C, PTS60+C26+S50 sealer.

Conventional spray
- Nozzle
- 1–1.2 mmrecommended
- Pressure · air

- Pressure · air
- 0.8–1.5 barrecommended
- Consumption
- 10–20 g/m² (TDS figure — appears to be concentrate, see notes)datasheet
The Milesi TDS states 10–20 g/m² for automatic airmix — given the 500–800 % dilution this reads as concentrate, i.e. ~80–100 g/m² of ready mix.
Airless
- Nozzle
- 0.18–0.23 mm (07–09 thou)recommended
- Pressure · fluid
- 30–60 barrecommended
- Consumption
- 10–20 g/m² (TDS figure, likely concentrate)datasheet
For hand work prefer airmix/HVLP — airless has a coarser fan and more blotch risk.
Automatic rotating spray
- Consumption
- 5–20 g/m² (automatic rotating spray gun / carousel, TDS)datasheet
- Dilution %
- 700–1500 % thinnerdatasheet
Milesi TDS: automatic rotating (carousel) spray gun — 5–20 g/m² at 700–1500 % dilution. This is not electrostatic as such; per the methods page any spray system can be electrostatic, but a water dilution then needs isolated equipment — use the solvent dilution there.
Process and compatibility
- Substrate preparation
- Sand flats P150 → P180 → P220; profiles with sanding mats/sponges K60–K80schedule

- Don'ts
- Don't dilute with tap water — deionised only
- Don't exceed 200 % CFS1/CFH1 binder
- Don't flood the surface — make a second light pass instead
- Don't sand the bare dye coat — sand the sealer
- Don't seal a water-diluted stain before it is fully dry (TDS: ~8 h at 20 °C or 20 min at 60 °C)

Safety: Composition and hazard class are not published (no CLT51 SDS found). Treat the concentrate and S10/S12/S90 mixes as flammable: spray in an extracted booth, no ignition sources, A2P2 respirator and nitrile gloves; keep solvent rags in a closed metal bin.
