CPS036
CPS036 Solvent-borne pigment stain, Mahogany
Pigmented solvent-borne wood stain, ready colour 'mahogany' — a warm red-brown. Evens out colour variation and hides wood defects, lightfast. Comes nearly ready to spray: thin 0-100 % with S10/S12/S90. Sprayed; the catalog also lists spray-and-wipe and roller application for the CPS series. Can be blended with other solvent-borne CPS stains to tune the shade.
- Staining furniture in any wood species
- Imitating mahogany on pale woods — beech, birch, alder
- Evening out colour on solid wood and veneer
- Pore highlighting on open-grain wood (wipe-on with binder, per CPS series catalog)

Mixing matrix
- % by weight: 0–100 %dealer% by volume: 0–100 %dealer
S10 — fast, for fine-pore wood (beech, birch, maple, alder); S12 — medium, for medium-pore wood; S90 — slow, for open-grain wood (oak, ash), big panels and hot shops; gives more working time for wiping.
Ready colour: from neat up to 1:1. More thinner = lighter, more transparent tone. Always do a test panel on the same species.

2025/26 catalog figure for the whole CPS series (2022 catalog and official CPS9 page: 500-2000 %); it fits the base concentrates. For the ready colour CPS036 the dealer gives 0-100 % — go by that.
- % by weight: 0–400 %catalog% by volume: 0–400 %official
2022 catalog for the CPS series: binder CFS1, CFS3, CFS4 at 0-400 % (which one for which method is not stated). The official CPS9 page names only CFS1, 0-400 % by weight and volume. The binder is what makes wipe-on application (pore highlighting on open-grain wood) possible.
The dealer's CPS036 page lists no binder — test on a sample first.
- CFC3Additive% by weight: 200 %schedule
Flat anegre-veneered panels under a UV system, 60-80 g/m² (application method not stated in the schedule; the rate matches spraying, not the 10-20 g/m² roller rate).
The schedule names the CPS series generically. CFC3 isn't sold by the dealer; confirm with Technocolor.
- S90Thinner% by weight: 200 %schedule
Same UV schedule (anegre veneer): slow S90.

Stir thoroughly — the pigment settles. Keep shaking/stirring the cup while you work. Lay one even wet coat, no puddles; go lighter on end grain (it drinks more and goes darker). To wipe: spray, give it 1-3 min, then wipe along the grain with a sponge or lint-free rag, packing pigment into the pores (pore-highlight effect on open-grain wood — needs a CFS binder, officially CFS1).

More overspray than HVLP; open the fan wide and hold the gun 20-25 cm off.
Cloth or pad
Wiping with a sponge or soft rag removes the excess after spraying (Technocolor's method definition). For a pore-highlight effect on oak/ash you need a CFS binder (official CPS9 page: CFS1; 2022 catalog: CFS1/CFS3/CFS4).
Roller coater (UV)
Rollers — flat parts on a line only (catalog: 10-20 g/m²). The official UV anegre schedule gives 60-80 g/m² of the CPS/CFC3/S90 mix without naming the method; the stain flashes 5 min at 20-25 °C before VTS20011 UV filler.
