CLT61

CLT61 Kromolux dye concentrate, Macassar

Highly concentrated transparent dye (binder-free stain) from Milesi's Kromolux series in Macassar (named after Macassar ebony — a deep dark-brown tone; check the exact shade against a dealer sample). Very clear and even; at higher strength it goes dark while staying transparent. Dilutes with water or solvent, with or without a binder.

  • Staining various wood species
  • Spray staining of all kinds of furniture, profiles, frames and wooden articles in general (Milesi TDS)
  • Can be overcoated with polyester, polyurethane and nitrocellulose lacquers (Milesi TDS)

Mixing matrix

  • S10Thinner
    % by weight: 500–1000 %dealer% by volume: 500–1000 %dealer

Fast, strong thinner — per the catalog for stains on fine-pored timber (species examples beech, birch, maple, alder are ours); short flash-off between operations.

Use per the Technocolor 2025–2026 catalog thinner table; the dealer labels S10 'thinner for PE'. S10: SG 0.790 ± 0.01, also for gun cleaning (official S10 page).

  • S12Thinner
    % by weight: 500–1000 %dealer% by volume: 500–1000 %dealer

Medium evaporation — per the catalog for stains on medium-pored timber (species examples cherry, walnut are ours); the default for a solvent-borne stain.

S12 is the dye thinner per its official page, and it is the thinner used in the dye steps of the official schedules.

  • S90Thinner
    % by weight: 500–1000 %dealer% by volume: 500–1000 %dealer

Slow evaporation — per the catalog for stains on open-pored timber (oak, ash are our examples); also large panels and a hot shop: stays wet longer, fewer blotches and lap marks.

Dealer lists S90 as 'slow dye thinner'.

  • WATERThinner
    % by weight: 500–1000 %dealer% by volume: 500–1000 %dealer

Water dilution — less odour/VOC, raises the grain more and dries much slower (Milesi TDS: 8 h at 20 °C vs. minutes on solvent).

Deionised water only — otherwise the dye flocculates and loses colour stability in the mix (dealer note). Before a water stain, raise the grain with a damp sponge, dry and denib at P180–P220 (our shop practice).

  • LZC97Thinner
    % by weight: 500–1000 %official% by volume: 500–1000 %official

Listed by Technocolor as a thinner. The Milesi TDS uses LZC97 as a small-share co-solvent alongside the main thinner (see the TDS rows).

LZC97's exact function is not documented by Technocolor; no product page.

  • CFS1Additive
    % by weight: 0–200 %dealer% by volume: 0–200 %dealer

Binder for the solvent-borne stain (with S10/S12/S90): locks the dye in, less bleeding/lifting when the sealer goes on, more even colour on end grain.

Role: binder. CFS1 = solvent-borne and CFH1 = water-borne follows from the schedules (CFS1 paired with S12, CFH1 with water) and the Technocolor code letters (S = solvent, H = water, cf. CTU/CTH); the dealer lists CFH1/CFS1 with labels 'ОР / ВР' in that order, i.e. reversed.

  • CFH1Additive
    % by weight: 0–200 %dealer% by volume: 0–200 %dealer

    Binder for the water-diluted stain.

0 % = plain dye stain; with binder the colour holds better under the sealer.

  • LZC97 / LZC1000Thinner
    % by weight: CLT 1 : LZC97 0.5 : LZC1000 9.5 (≈ LZC97 50 % + LZC1000 950 %)datasheet

Milesi's suggested solvent dilution. LZC1000 is a Milesi code; in the Technocolor line its place is taken by S10/S12/S90 per the official page.

  • LZC97 / WATERThinner
    % by weight: CLT 1 : LZC97 1 : water 14 (≈ LZC97 100 % + water 1400 %)datasheet

    Milesi's suggested water dilution.

  • LZC1000 / LZC1024 / LZC97 / LTC5 / WATERThinner
    % by weight: 500–800 %datasheet

    Milesi TDS: manual spray, fixed automatic airmix/airless, swinging-arm guns — 500–800 %; automatic rotating (carousel) guns — 700–1500 %.

  • CFS1 / S12Additive
    % by weight: CFS1 200 % + S12 500 %schedule

    Raised-panel doors (PU): stain 80–100 g/m², 5 min at 20–25 °C, then PTS20+C25+S50 sealer.

The finishing schedule names the generic code 'CTU' (universal transparent dye). The Kromolux CLT series (sibling CLT4's page) sits in the same 'Universal dyes' section on t-color.ru, so the recipe is carried over as a guide; that mapping is our interpretation, not an explicit CLT61 instruction.

  • CFS1 / S12Additive
    % by weight: CFS1 150 % + S12 500 %schedule

Mouldings and frames (UV): stain 80 g/m², 5 min at 25–30 °C, then VTS40041 UV sealer.

  • CFH1 / WATERAdditive
    % by weight: CFH1 400 % + вода/water 1000 %schedule

    Beech-veneered worktops (PU) schedule (page heading misprinted as 'Open-pore oak kitchen fronts (Acr.)'): stain 80–100 g/m², 20 min at 20–25 °C, PTS60 + C26 50 % + S50 20 % sealer.

    This schedule is written for the water dye CTH, not CLT; 400 % CFH1 + 1000 % water (1400 % total) exceed CLT61's 0–200 % binder and 500–1000 % thinner limits — stay inside them for CLT61.

Percentages are per 100 parts of component A.

Consumption
10–20 g/m² (TDS figure; basis not stated — reads as concentrate, see notes)datasheet

The Milesi TDS states 10–20 g/m² for automatic airmix (and 5–20 g/m² for manual spray). Read as concentrate at 500–800 % dilution that is ≈60–180 g/m² of ready mix, bracketing the official 80–100 g/m²; the TDS does not state the basis.

Airless

Nozzle
0.18–0.23 mm (07–09 thou)recommended
Pressure · fluid
30–60 barrecommended
Consumption
10–20 g/m² (TDS figure, likely concentrate)datasheet

For hand work prefer airmix/HVLP — airless has a coarser fan and more blotch risk.

Automatic carousel

Consumption
5–20 g/m² (automatic rotating 'carousel' spray machine, TDS; dilution 700–1500 %)datasheet

Milesi TDS covers automatic rotating (carousel) spray machines at 700–1500 % dilution. This is not electrostatic: electrostatic application is not stated for CLT anywhere; if used, use the solvent dilution (a water dilution needs isolated equipment — our assessment).

Don'ts
  • Don't dilute with tap water — deionised only
  • Don't exceed 200 % CFS1/CFH1 binder
  • Don't flood the surface — make a second light pass instead
  • Don't sand the bare dye coat — sand the sealer
  • Don't seal a water-diluted stain before it is fully dry (TDS: ~8 h at 20 °C or 20 min at 60 °C)

Safety: Composition and hazard class are not published (no CLT61 SDS found). Treat the concentrate and S10/S12/S90 mixes as flammable: spray in an extracted booth, no ignition sources, A2P2 respirator and nitrile gloves; keep solvent rags in a closed metal bin.
