CPS56

CPS56 solvent-borne pigment stain, Mahogany Red (Красное дерево)

Solvent-borne pigment stain in Mahogany Red. Evens out colour variation and hides wood defects, levels well, lightfast. Spray with or without wiping (80-100 g/m²) or roller-coat (10-20 g/m²). Thin with S10/S12/S90; the let-down for CPS56 isn't published — set it from a test panel. Intermixes with the rest of the CPS range.

  • Staining furniture in any wood species
  • Mahogany-red toning of pale species: beech, birch, alder, anegre
  • Evening out colour variation on solid wood and veneer
  • Pore highlighting on open-grain wood (wiped, with binder)

Workshop recommendation, not from Technocolor. Dose thinner for colour strength, not viscosity. Weigh it and write it down.

  • CFS1Additive
    % by weight: 0–400 %official% by volume: 0–400 %official

Solvent binder — for wipe-on/pore-highlight work and to lock the pigment in.

Dealer gives 20-40 % for ready colours CPS22/CPS23; not stated for CPS56. Binder slightly weakens the colour.

  • CFS1Additive
    % by weight: 20–40 %dealer% by volume: 20–40 %dealer

Spraying / roller / wiping with ready colours.

Figure for sibling ready colours; applies to CPS56 by analogy.

  • CFS1 / CFS3 / CFS4Additive
    % by weight: 0–400 %catalog

The 2022 catalog lists CFS1, CFS3, CFS4 without saying which is for what. The dealer (CPS22) labels the binder «for spraying / for roller / for wiping» — probably CFS1 spray, CFS3 roller, CFS4 wiping (order inferred, not confirmed).

  • CFC3Additive
    % by weight: 200 %schedule

Flat anegre-veneer panels under a UV system, 60-80 g/m². The schedule doesn't name the application method (60-80 g/m² matches spraying better than the 10-20 g/m² roller rate).

CFC3 appears nowhere else; probably the roller binder (CFS3). Confirm with Technocolor.

  • S90Thinner
    % by weight: 200 %schedule

UV anegre-panel schedule (method not stated).

  • CPSAdditive
% by weight: any ratio %catalog

For a custom shade: CPS colours intermix with each other and with other solvent-borne stains (CTU).

    Record ratios by weight.

Stir thoroughly — the pigment settles; keep shaking the cup as you go. One even wet coat, no puddles; go lighter on end grain (drinks more, goes darker). For wiping see the 'cloth' method.

Cloth or pad

Consumption
80–100 g/m²dealer

Spray, wait 1-3 min, then wipe along the grain with a sponge or lint-free rag, packing pigment into the pores. For pore highlighting on oak/ash add a CFS binder (CFS1 per the official CPS9 page; the wiping binder is probably CFS4) and use slow S90.

Roller

Consumption
10–20 g/m²dealer

Roller (10-20 g/m²) is listed by the dealer for CPS56. The UV schedule mix (CPS 100 / CFC3 200 / S90 200, 60-80 g/m²) is series-level and doesn't name the method; don't treat it as a roller recipe — set it from a test panel.
