CPS60 Solvent-borne pigment wiping stain, Alder

Ready-mixed solvent-borne pigment wiping stain in an alder shade, part of the CPS51-62 series. Evens out colour variation and hides wood defects, levels well and is lightfast. The dealer lists it for furniture in any species, interior and exterior; the official site files the series under exterior wood. Spray, spray-and-wipe or roller-coat.

  • Staining furniture in any wood species
  • Interior and exterior work
  • Decks, verandas, gazebos, garden furniture, boardwalks, cladding, fences, landscape features (official, for the series via CPS58/CPS62)
  • Alder look on pale, cheaper species (pine, birch, beech)
  • Evening out colour on solid wood and veneer

CPS60 is already sold as a wiping stain; add binder only after a test panel.

Stir well before and during use — the pigment settles. Alder is a warm, light reddish-brown: on pale fine-pore woods (beech, birch, pine, alder itself) it lays down evenly with S10/S12. To wipe: spray, give it 1-3 min, then wipe along the grain with a sponge or lint-free rag. Go lighter on end grain (it drinks more and goes darker). Always make a test panel on the same species under the same topcoat.

For production panel/door staining; keep the pot agitated.

Cloth or pad

Wiping with a sponge or soft lint-free rag removes the excess after spraying and evens the tone; on open-grain wood it packs pigment into the pores.

Roller coater (UV)

Flat parts on a roller-coater line only (10-20 g/m² per the dealer).

Panel line schedule

Flash-off
5 minschedule

Flat (anegre veneer) panels under a UV system: stain with CFC3 and S90, 5 min flash at 20-25 °C, then UV filler VTS20011. The schedule does not say how the stain is applied.

Brush

On exterior structures (fences, decks, gazebos) it can be brushed on and wiped back straight away with a rag.

Process and compatibility

Substrate preparation
Dry wood (≤ 12 % MC for furniture, ≤ 15 % outdoors), sand P150-P180 (P150/P180/P220 on the roller line per the schedule), de-dust; take grey weathered wood back to fresh.recommended
Goes under
PTS20 / VTS20011
Sanding
Never sand the stain; first sanding is on the primer (P280-P320).recommended
Temperature and humidity
15-25 °C, RH ≤ 75 % indoors; outdoors 10-25 °C, no direct sun, no rain/dewrecommended
Exterior
Outdoors the stain alone does not protect the wood — always overcoat with a weather-resistant exterior system.recommended
