CPS54
CPS54 solvent-borne pigment stain, Pine
Solvent-borne pigment stain in Pine — a warm honey-yellow tone. Evens out colour variation and masks wood defects, levels the colour well, good lightfastness. Part of the CPS51-CPS62 line that Technocolor describes as pigment wiping stains: spray-and-wipe or spray at 80-100 g/m², or roller-coat at 10-20 g/m². Thin with S10/S12/S90; intermixes with the rest of the CPS range and other solvent-borne stains for a custom shade. Good for giving pale species (birch, alder, beech, pine, spruce) an even pine tone.
- Staining furniture in any wood species
- Pine tone on pale species (birch, alder, beech, spruce, pine)
- Evening out colour variation, masking knots and sapwood
- Spray-and-wipe pore highlighting on open-grain wood (with CFS1 binder)
- Exterior woodwork under a protective topcoat (per the CPS5x/6x line — confirm for CPS54)

S10 — fast, for fine-pore wood (beech, birch, maple, alder); S12 — medium, for medium-pore wood; S90 — slow, for open-grain wood (oak, ash); S90 also gives more working time for wiping and on big panels.
2025/26 catalog figure for the CPS series (500-1000 %; 2022 catalog 500-2000 %). The dealer gives none for CPS54; for other ready colours it gives 0-100 % (CPS010/030/037/040) or 200-1000 % (CPS22-25). Start at ~300 % and adjust on a test panel.
- % by weight: 0–400 %catalog
CFS1 — spraying binder; CFS3/CFS4 — further binders (the 2022 catalog does not label them; the dealer's CPS22/23 row for CFS1 is captioned 'for spraying / for rollers / for wiping').
For wiping and pore highlighting use a binder (CFS1). No dose published for CPS54; dealer gives 20-40 % on CPS22/CPS23 and 0-400 % on the CPS9 concentrate.
- CFC3Additive% by weight: 200 %schedule
Roller-coating flat (anegre veneer) panels under a UV system, 60-80 g/m².
CFC3 appears nowhere else; probably the roller binder (CFS3). Confirm with Technocolor.

Stir thoroughly — the pigment settles. Keep shaking/stirring the cup while you work. Lay one even wet coat, no puddles; go lighter on end grain (it drinks more and goes darker). To wipe: spray, give it 1-3 min, then wipe along the grain with a sponge or lint-free rag, packing pigment into the pores (pore-highlight effect on open-grain wood — needs CFS1 binder).
Cloth or pad
Main method for the CPS5x/6x line ('wiping stains'). Spray 80-100 g/m², give it 1-3 min and wipe with a sponge/rag along the grain to an even tone. On pine/spruce the resinous latewood takes less — wipe straight away, no pauses, or you get blotches. For pore highlighting on oak/ash add CFS1.
Roller coater (UV)
Flat parts on a roller-coater line only. In the official UV schedule the stain flashes 5 min at 20-25 °C before VTS20011 UV filler.
