CPS033
CPS033 Solvent-borne pigment stain, Dark Mahogany (ready colour)
Ready-mixed solvent-borne pigment stain (wood dye), shade 'dark mahogany'. Evens out colour variation, hides wood defects, lightfast. Comes near ready-to-use: thin 0-100 % with S10/S12/S2000 to set the colour strength. Spray 80-100 g/m², dry 20 min, then prime and topcoat (dealer schedule: PTS20 → PTL20 SM).
- Staining furniture in any wood species
- Imitating dark mahogany on pale species (beech, birch, alder)
- Evening out colour variation on solid wood and veneer
- Tinting other solvent-borne stains (intermixable)

Answers are based on the CPS033 data and the products it mixes with.
Mixing matrix
- % by weight: 0–100 %dealer% by volume: 0–100 %dealer
S10 — fast, for fine-pore wood (beech, birch, maple, alder); S12 — medium, for medium-pore wood; S2000 — fast but low-bite (catalog: patina thinner), attacks the coat underneath less when toning over primer.
Neat = full colour strength; more thinner = lighter shade. Always do a test panel on the same species.
- S90Thinner% by weight: 0–100 %recommended
Open-grain wood (oak, ash), big panels, hot shop, wipe-on work — more working time.
Dries slower than 20 min — wait longer before priming.
- % by weight: 0–400 %catalog% by volume: 0–400 %official
Binder for wipe-on application and the pore-highlight effect on open-grain wood. The official CPS9 page names only CFS1; the 2022 catalog lists CFS1, CFS3, CFS4 (the sources don't say what each grade is for).
The dealer lists no binder for CPS033; 0-400 % is the 2022 catalog figure for the CPS series (mainly concentrates). On a ready colour start low and test.
- CFC3Additive% by weight: 200 %schedule
Official UV schedule for flat anegre-veneered panels: stain at 60-80 g/m², then UV filler. The schedule doesn't state how the stain is applied (60-80 g/m² is a spray-range rate, not the 10-20 g/m² roller rate).
The schedule names the CPS series generically, not CPS033. The ratio is probably meant for a concentrate, so a ready colour like CPS033 will come out much lighter; do a test panel. CFC3 isn't listed by the dealer or described in the catalogs.
- S90Thinner% by weight: 200 %schedule
Same UV schedule: slow S90.

- None — never sand the stain.recommended
Stir thoroughly — the pigment settles. Keep shaking/stirring the cup while you work. Lay one even wet coat, no puddles; go lighter on end grain (it drinks more and goes darker). To wipe: spray, give it 1-3 min, then wipe along the grain with a sponge or lint-free rag, packing pigment into the pores (pore-highlight effect on open-grain wood — needs CFS1 binder).

More overspray than HVLP; open the fan wide and hold the gun 20-25 cm off.
Cloth or pad
Wiping with a sponge or soft rag removes the excess after spraying (Technocolor's method definition). For a pore-highlight effect on oak/ash use CFS1 binder.
Roller
Flat parts on a roller coater only. The official UV (anegre) schedule doesn't say how the stain goes on — its 60-80 g/m² rate is a spray-range figure, see system_example.
