CLT64

CLT64 Kromolux dye concentrate, Viola (violet)

Highly concentrated transparent dye (binder-free stain) from Milesi's Kromolux series in Viola — a violet shade. Very clear and even; at higher strength it goes dark while staying transparent. Dilutes with water or solvent, with or without a binder. Usually a tinting dye rather than a stand-alone colour: a small share mixed into other CLT dyes kills yellowness, cools and deepens dark tones (wenge, ebony, rosewood); check the exact shade against a dealer sample.

  • Staining all kinds of timber, veneer and solid
  • Furniture, fronts, mouldings and frames, general wooden articles
  • Tinting other CLT dyes: killing yellow, deepening darks
  • Violet/decorative transparent toning under PE, PU and NC lacquers

Mixing matrix

  • S10Thinner
    % by weight: 500–1000 %dealer% by volume: 500–1000 %dealer

Fast, high-solvency thinner — for stains on fine-pored timber (per catalog; e.g. beech, birch, maple, alder) and short flash-off between operations.

Thinner selection per the Technocolor 2025–2026 catalog thinner table. S10 is also the gun-cleaning solvent per its official page.

  • S12Thinner
    % by weight: 500–1000 %dealer% by volume: 500–1000 %dealer

Medium evaporation — medium-pored timber (per catalog); the default for a solvent-borne stain.

S12 is the dye thinner per its official page, and it is the thinner used in the dye steps of the official schedules.

  • S90Thinner
    % by weight: 500–1000 %dealer% by volume: 500–1000 %dealer

Slow — open-pored timber (oak, ash), large panels, hot shop: stays wet longer, fewer blotches and lap marks.

Dealer lists S90 as 'slow dye thinner'.

  • WATERThinner
    % by weight: 500–1000 %dealer% by volume: 500–1000 %dealer

Water dilution — less odour/VOC, raises the grain more and dries much slower (Milesi TDS: 8 h at 20 °C vs. minutes on solvent).

Deionised (distilled) water only — tap water makes the dye flocculate and lose colour stability (dealer note). Before a water stain, raise the grain with a damp sponge, dry and denib at P180–P220.

  • LZC97Thinner
    % by weight: 500–1000 %official% by volume: 500–1000 %official

Listed by Technocolor as a thinner. The Milesi TDS uses LZC97 as a small-share co-solvent alongside the main thinner (see the TDS rows).

LZC97's exact function is not documented by Technocolor; no product page.

  • CFS1Additive
    % by weight: 0–200 %dealer% by volume: 0–200 %dealer

Binder for the solvent-borne stain (with S10/S12/S90): locks the dye in, less bleeding/lifting when the sealer goes on, more even colour on end grain.

Role: binder. CFS1 = solvent-borne and CFH1 = water-borne follows from the schedules (CFS1 paired with S12, CFH1 with water); the dealer's ОР/ВР labels are listed in the opposite order.

  • CFH1Additive
    % by weight: 0–200 %dealer% by volume: 0–200 %dealer

    Binder for the water-diluted stain.

0 % = plain dye stain; with binder the colour holds better under the sealer.

  • LZC97 / LZC1000Thinner
    % by weight: CLT 1 : LZC97 0.5 : LZC1000 9.5 (≈ LZC97 50 % + LZC1000 950 %)datasheet

Milesi's suggested solvent dilution. LZC1000 is a Milesi code; in the Technocolor line its place is taken by S10/S12/S90 per the official page.

  • LZC97 / WATERThinner
    % by weight: CLT 1 : LZC97 1 : water 14 (≈ LZC97 100 % + water 1400 %)datasheet

    Milesi's suggested water dilution.

  • LZC1000 / LZC1024 / LZC97 / LTC5 / WATERThinner
    % by weight: 500–800 %datasheet

    Milesi TDS: manual spray, fixed automatic airmix/airless, swinging-arm guns — 500–800 %; rotating carousel — 700–1500 %.

  • CFS1 / S12Additive
    % by weight: CFS1 200 % + S12 500 %schedule

    Raised-panel doors (PU): stain 80–100 g/m², 5 min at 20–25 °C, then PTS20+C25+S50 sealer.

The finishing schedule names the generic code 'CTU' (Technocolor universal transparent dye). CLT64 has no t-color.ru page; its sibling CLT8 is filed under 'Universal dyes' there, so the recipe is carried over as a guide — our interpretation, not an explicit CLT64 instruction.

  • CFS1 / S12Additive
    % by weight: CFS1 150 % + S12 500 %schedule

Mouldings and frames (UV): stain 80 g/m², 5 min at 25–30 °C, then VTS40041 UV sealer.

  • CFH1 / WATERAdditive
    % by weight: CFH1 400 % + вода/water 1000 %schedule

Open-pore oak kitchen fronts (page titled '(Acr.)' although its URL says beech-veneered tabletops PU): stain 80–100 g/m², 20 min at 20–25 °C, PTS60+C26+S50 sealer.

This schedule is written for the water dye CTH, not CLT; 400 % CFH1 exceeds the 0–200 % the dealer gives for CLT64 (and the official site for CLT8) — stay within 0–200 % for CLT64.

Percentages are per 100 parts of component A.

Pressure · fluid
30–60 barrecommended
Consumption
10–20 g/m² (TDS, fixed automatic airless; likely concentrate)datasheet

For hand work prefer airmix/HVLP — airless has a coarser fan and more blotch risk.

Automatic rotating spray

Consumption
5–20 g/m² (automatic rotating spray gun / carousel, TDS; dilution 700–1500 %)datasheet

The Milesi TDS covers automatic rotating (carousel) spray guns at 700–1500 % dilution and 5–20 g/m². This is not electrostatic; there are no CLT data for electrostatic spraying — with a water dilution electrostatics would need isolated equipment.

Not covered by the sources
  • solids_pct (blank in Milesi TDS, not on official/dealer pages)
  • lightfastness rating (no sourced figure; violet dyes are typically among the less lightfast — test before use on exposed pieces)

  • CFS1/CFH1 product pages and their own data (no official/dealer page found)
  • TDS room-temp drying with solvent printed as 30" — unit ambiguous (seconds vs minutes)
  • consumption discrepancy: dealer (and CLT8 official) 80–100 g/m² (basis unstated, likely ready mix) vs Milesi TDS 5–20 g/m² (apparently concentrate)
  • SDS / hazard classification for CLT64
  • no Technocolor-issued TDS for CLT64; data sheet used is Milesi's (IVM) CLT series TDS, rev. I, Oct 2006
  • CLT not covered in Technocolor 2025–2026 catalog (dye section lists only CTU/CPS/CTH/CPH)
  • no official t-color.ru page for CLT64; LZC97 as a thinner comes only from sibling CLT8's official page (not in the CLT64 dealer table)
  • CLT64 absent from the 2006 Milesi TDS colour list — density/SG unknown; series viscosity/drying assumed to apply
