CLT50
CLT50 Kromolux dye concentrate, Donato
Kromolux (made by MILESI) concentrated transparent dye stain, ready-mixed shade «Donato». Very even colour and high strength, so you can go dark and still keep the wood clear. Cut with water or solvent, with or without a binder. Every dye in the range mixes with the others in any ratio.
- Colouring all kinds of wood, veneer or solid
- The ready «Donato» shade, grain still visible
- A base for mixing your own shades with other Kromolux dyes

Mixing matrix
- S10Thinner% by weight: 500–1000 %dealer% by volume: 500–1000 %dealer
Fast, strong solvency: stains on fine-pored timber (beech, birch, maple, alder, cherry).
500–1000 % means 5 to 10 parts thinner to 1 part concentrate. More thinner = lighter, more transparent shade.
- S12Thinner% by weight: 500–1000 %dealer% by volume: 500–1000 %dealer
Medium evaporation: stains on medium-pored timber.
500–1000 % means 5 to 10 parts thinner to 1 part concentrate. More thinner = lighter, more transparent shade.
- S90Thinner% by weight: 500–1000 %dealer% by volume: 500–1000 %dealer
Slow evaporation: stains on open-pored timber (oak, ash, walnut). The slow flash also helps on big panels and in hot weather (fewer stripes).
500–1000 % means 5 to 10 parts thinner to 1 part concentrate. More thinner = lighter, more transparent shade.
- LZC97Thinner% by weight: 500–1000 %official% by volume: 500–1000 %official
Listed as an approved thinner on the official pages of Kromolux dyes CLT1–CLT10 (CLT11/12/18 pages list no thinner).
The CLT50 dealer page doesn't list LZC97. The data comes from sibling pages in the same series (same chemistry). LZC97's own properties are unpublished.
- WATERThinner% by weight: 500–1000 %dealer% by volume: 500–1000 %dealer
Water dilution, when you want a solvent-free stain. Deionised water only.
Dealer note: use only deionised water, or the dye can flocculate and lose colour stability in the can. Water raises the grain, so wet, dry and sand the wood before staining (official wood-prep page).
- % by weight: 1 part CLT : 0.5 part LZC97 : 9.5 parts LZC1000 (≈ LZC97 50 % + LZC1000 950 %)datasheet
Milesi's own solvent recipe for the Kromolux series. Technocolor doesn't sell LZC1000; use S10/S12/S90 in its place.

- LZC97 / WATERThinner% by weight: 1 part CLT : 1 part LZC97 : 14 parts water (≈ LZC97 100 % + water 1400 %)datasheet
Milesi's water recipe: LZC97 acts as a co-solvent for wetting and stability. Deionised water only.
Milesi CLT Kromolux SERIES TDS (rev. I, Oct 2006); CLT50 is not named in it, value applies to the series
- % by weight: 500–800 %datasheet
Milesi TDS: hand spray and automatic airmix/airless/swing-arm guns 500–800 %; rotating carousel 700–1500 %.

- CFH1Additive% by weight: 0–200 %dealer% by volume: 0–200 %dealer
Spray binder for the solvent-borne system: use it when the concentrate is cut with S10/S12/S90.
0 % = straight dye, no binder. The binder locks the dye in, cuts bleed into the next sealer coat and evens out absorption. The solvent/water pairing comes from the dealer table (CFH1 / CFS1 = 'solvent-borne / water-borne spray binder').
- CFS1Additive% by weight: 0–200 %dealer% by volume: 0–200 %dealer
Spray binder for the water-borne system: use it when the concentrate is cut with deionised water.
Solvent/water pairing per the dealer table. The official CLT10 page lists CFS1 only.

- Drying · Overcoat (min)
- 30–120recommended
- Drying · Conditions
- Derived values assume ~20 °C, 50–70 % RH; series TDS figures are at 20 °C / 70 % RH
- Lightfastness
- Transparent dye: bright, saturated colour, but less lightfast than the pigment stains (catalog: pigment stains are the high-lightfastness option).catalog
- Density
- 0.945–0.965 g/cm³ (specific gravity, 20 °C)datasheet
- Colour strength
- Higher concentration than ordinary stains, so dark shades stay transparentdealer

- Sanding between coats
- Never sand the stain itself. You cut through the colour on edges. Denib only after the first sealer coat.recommended
15–20 cm from the work, 50 % overlap, gun square to the surface, steady speed. Back off the fluid on vertical panels. Do edges and ends first, then the face.
Conventional spray
- Nozzle
- 1.2–1.4 mmrecommended
- Pressure · air
- 2.5–3.5 barrecommended

For production runs. Skip airless for stain: too much material, and it blotches.
Process and compatibility
- Substrate preparation
- Sand solid wood or veneer to P150–P220 (open-pored P150–P180, fine-pored P180–P220) and de-dust. If you dilute with water, pre-wet, dry and knock back the raised grain first.recommended
- Goes over
- bare wood
- Overcoat compatibility
- polyester,polyurethane,nitrocellulosedatasheet
- Goes under
- ATS20
- Sanding
- Don't sand the stain. The first denib goes on the first sealer coat.recommended
- Temperature and humidity
- 15–25 °C, RH 50–70 %; above ~25 °C use slow S90recommended
- Don'ts
- Don't cut it with tap water. Deionised only (dealer).
- Don't lay it on in one heavy coat. You get blotches and runs.
- Don't seal before the solvent or water has fully gone.
Storage
- Packaging
- 1 Ldealer
- Shelf life
- 8 months from deliverydatasheet
- Storage temperature
- 18–25 °C, tightly closed, protected from moisturedatasheet
Safety: (Generic advice, not from an SDS.) Once cut with S10/S12/S90 it is highly flammable. Spray in an extracted booth, wear an A2-filter respirator and nitrile gloves, and keep it away from ignition sources. I couldn't find an SDS for CLT50.

Not covered by the sources
- Solids content and flash point not published; density only as a series range
- No official or dealer drying times. Workshop times are derived; series-TDS figures added (solvent drying printed as 30", which is ambiguous)
- Shelf life and storage temperature come only from the 2006 series TDS (CLT50 not named in it)
- Exact hue of «Donato» is undescribed: no colour card or recipe, base vs composed unknown
- Consumption discrepancy: dealer 80–100 g/m² (ready mix) vs series TDS 5–20 g/m² (apparently concentrate)
- No lightfastness rating specific to CLT50
- No CLT50-specific TDS or SDS found; only the Milesi CLT series TDS (rev. I, Oct 2006) was used. The web-search budget for this run was exhausted, so no fresh CLT50/Donato search was possible
- There is NO official t-color.ru page for CLT50 (not in families.json/src/products); all CLT50-specific data is from the dealer page, plus series TDS and LZC97 from official sibling pages (CLT1–CLT10)
- CLT series is not in the 2025-2026 catalog (it lists CTU/CPS/CTH instead)
- No official finishing schedule uses CLT50
- Properties of LZC97, CFH1 and CFS1 are not published (dealer pages for CFS1 return 404)
- Dealer viscosity 24±2 has no cup; it matches the series TDS ISO 3 mm figure, so it is NOT a DIN4 value
- Series TDS solvent drying/overcoat (30 s / 1 min with LZC1000) is far faster than the derived shop figures (S10/S12/S90 are not LZC1000)
