S30

S30 Thinner (fast)

Fast-evaporating thinner for PU, acrylic, polyester and UV materials. Reach for it when you need quicker flash-off and between-coat drying: cold shop (below ~18 °C), thin primer coats, fast panel turnaround.

  • Thinning PU, acrylic, polyester and UV materials
  • ATS20 clear acrylic primer (30–40 % by weight)
  • EPS20 white polyester primer (10–15 % by weight)

Mixing matrix

    % by weight: 30–40 %official% by volume: 30–45 %official

Clear acrylic primer in a cold shop or when you want fast flash-off; at 18–25 °C the default is S50

Don't use S30 above ~25 °C — dry spray, orange peel, pinholes over open pores. S30-vs-S50 choice is derived advice.

  • S30Thinner
    % by weight: 60–90 (typ. 75) %recommended

Washcoat (~70 g/m²) only when the shop is cold

Owner's recipe calls for S50/S80; S30 is a situational swap.

White polyester primer, alternative to S10

Never mix EA1 accelerator and EC1/EC2 catalyst directly together — stir each into the base in turn. Add thinner last. No official default dose (10–15 %).

The thinner is never sprayed on its own. With fast S30 keep the gun at 15–20 cm, not further, or the material dries in the air and lands as dry spray. Allow 10–15 min flash-off between coats.

With airmix use the lower end of the S30 dosage.

Process and compatibility

Temperature and humidity
Best below ~18 °C or when fast drying is needed; 18–25 °C use S50; above ~25 °C use S80. With high humidity (>~70 %) a fast thinner risks blushing (whitening) of acrylic films.recommended
Don'ts
  • Don't exceed the base product's maximum
  • Not for waterborne (H-series) materials
  • Don't use on large flat panels in hot weather — no time to flow out
  • Don't pre-thin the hardener — add to the already-mixed A+B

Safety: Highly flammable, fast-evaporating — vapour builds up quicker than with S50. Use in a ventilated booth with an organic-vapour (A) respirator and nitrile gloves; ground equipment, no ignition sources. (Generic precautions — maker's SDS not found.)
