EC2
EC2 Slow hardener (catalyst) for polyester materials
Slow hardener (catalyst) for Technocolor polyester (PE) primers and lacquers. Dosed at 2 % by weight together with EA1 accelerator (2 %). Gives the mixed batch a longer pot life than the standard EC1 — for hot shops, large surfaces and medium/high-pressure (airmix/airless) spraying.
- Curing PE primers EPS20, EPS22, ETS20 and PE lacquer ETL200 (official pages, catalog)
- Hot weather, 25–35 °C, when more pot life is needed (dealer — cut EA1 to 1.5–1 % in that case; catalog — EC2 extends pot life)
- Medium/high-pressure systems — airmix/airless (dealer, EA1 page)

Always. 2 % is standard; 1.5–1 % in hot weather (25–35 °C) when you need more pot life.
Dealer (EA1*): the new EA1 formula cuts pot life by about 10–15 %; for medium- and high-pressure systems the slow catalyst EC2 is recommended.
- EC1Hardener% by weight: 2–3 %dealer
Instead of EC2 at normal temperature (~20 °C) and for small batches when you want fast gel and early sanding.
EC1 and EC2 are interchangeable at the same 2 % dose (official pages list 'EC1 / EC2'). Blending EC1 with EC2 is not described by Technocolor.

To bring the PE mix to spray viscosity; pick the thinner the base specifies.
EC2 itself is never thinned.

Schedule 'Gloss finish of MDF bathroom fronts (PE+PU)': 2 primer coats at 250 g/m², each followed by 30 min at 30–35 °C, then 12 h at 20–25 °C.
The schedule names EC1; swap in EC2 1:1 (same 2 % — the official EPS20 page lists 'EC1 / EC2' at 2 %) for a hot shop or a big batch.

EC2 is never applied on its own — it is a mix component. Add it to the PE base separately from the accelerator: EA1 first, stir well, then EC2 (or the other way round — but never pour EA1 and EC2 together neat). Spray the mix per the base's settings. Airmix/airless pumps and hoses hold material longer — that is exactly what EC2 is for.

With a cup gun EC2 mainly earns its keep in the heat; still mix one cup at a time.
Process and compatibility
- Temperature and humidity
- Dealer: in hot weather (air 25–35 °C), when more pot life is needed, reduce EA1 to 1.5–1 %. EC2 itself is described (catalog) as the slow hardener that extends pot life; the dealer EA1 page recommends EC2 for medium/high-pressure systems. No temperature range is published for EC2 specifically.dealer
- Don'ts
- Never mix EC2 directly with EA1 accelerator — violent reaction, fire risk
- Don't go above 2 % unless the maker says so (speed-up is done with EC1 up to 3 %)
- Never pour leftover mix back into the base can
- Don't use EC2 in PU/acrylic systems — PE only
Storage
- Packaging
- 1 kgdealer
- Storage temperature
- cool, below ~25 °C, out of sun, away from accelerators, acids and metalsrecommended
Safety: Organic peroxide (by product type; no Technocolor SDS found). Oxidiser, irritant to skin and eyes — nitrile gloves and goggles. Store apart from EA1 accelerator; don't wipe spills with solvent rags — cover with sand/vermiculite and wet down.

- No official t-color.ru page and no TDS/SDS found
- Chemistry (MEKP/AAP etc.) not published
- Density not published. The per-base volume figures for 2 % by weight (EPS20 3 %, EPS22 2.5 %, ETL200/ETS20 2 %) differ because the bases differ in density (filled white primers are heavier), so EC2 density cannot be back-calculated without base densities
