S13

S13 thinner (for polyester materials and patinas)

Fast-evaporating thinner. Per the catalog: for stains, patinas, polyester primers and PU, acrylic and UV materials. Dealer: specific gravity 0.835 ± 0.01, clear and colourless, fast drying; used to bring PE lacquers and dyes to spraying viscosity (or the right dye strength), and also fine for cleaning kit. There is no official t-color.ru page for it.

  • Thinning EPS20 and EPS22 PE primers: 10–15 % by weight / 15–20 % by volume
  • Cutting CQS patinas (white, walnuts, cherry, mahogany, wenge, red walnut): 100–200 %
  • Cutting CQS41001 / CQS41002 metallic patinas: 100–200 %
  • Bringing PE lacquers and dyes to spray viscosity
  • Cleaning equipment

  • EPS20Thinner
    % by weight: 10–15 %dealer% by volume: 15–20 %dealer

Thinning EPS20 polyester primer to spray viscosity, 200–250 g/m². Catalyse with EA1 accelerator + EC1 hardener per the primer's sheet.

The official EPS20 page lists S10/S30 (10–15 % by weight, 15–25 % by volume); the dealer recipe uses S13 (10–15 % by weight, 15–20 % by volume). The catalog rates all three as fast.

  • EPS22Thinner
    % by weight: 10–15 %dealer% by volume: 15–20 %dealer

Thinning EPS22 polyester primer, spray 200–250 g/m², under matt finishes on fronts and routed panels.

The official EPS22 page names S10/S11 (10–15 % by weight, 20–30 % by volume); the dealer names S13 (10–15 % by weight, 15–20 % by volume). Per the catalog S11 is medium speed, S10 and S13 are fast.

  • % by weight: 100–200 %dealer% by volume: 100–200 %dealer

Cut the patina 1:1 to 1:2, spray 80–100 g/m² over PU/acrylic primer or enamel, dry 5–10 min, then rub back with Scotch-Brite or steel wool and lock it in with clear lacquer.

Dealer note: with ethanol the patina rubs off more easily, with S13 it is harder to remove. The dealer's description text recommends S10 (fast dry, harder surface) or S2000 (dries a little slower, easier to sand). The official t-color.ru pages for these patinas name S10 / S2000, not S13 — S13 appears only in the dealer mix table.

  • % by weight: 100–200 %dealer% by volume: 100–200 %dealer

The only thinner in the dealer mix table for the gold and white-gold metallic patinas. The official t-color.ru pages and the dealer's own description text name S10 (and S2000) instead. CQS41002: stir thoroughly before use (dealer).

Percentages are per 100 parts of component A.

Why ru

This is how EPS20/EPS22 polyester primer cut 10–15 % by weight with S13 goes on. The primer is ~100 % solids, so it wants a big 1.8–2.2 mm tip. S13 is fast — above ~25 °C the wet edge goes quickly, so keep the fan wide and move fast.

Why ru
Патина, разбавленная на 100–200 % быстрым растворителем, почти как вода; HVLP 1,0–1,3 мм при низком давлении на воздушной головке даёт тонкий распыл и слабый отскок. Расход и время высыхания — данные дилера.

Patina cut 1:1–1:2 with S13: small tip, one even coat, no puddles in the routing. Stir metallic (gold) patinas before filling the cup and during work — the flake settles.

Cloth or pad

Why ru
Применение для очистки указано дилером; порядок действий — стандартная практика мастерской.

Flushing guns, pumps and hoses after PE, PU, acrylic materials and patinas (dealer: 'can also be used to clean equipment'). Run clean S13 through until it comes out clear, then strip and wipe the tip and needle.

Temperature and humidity
best at 18–25 °C; above ~25 °C or on large flat panels switch PU/acrylic work to S50/S80recommended
Don'ts
  • Don't use it as a retarder — S13 is fast; for PU/acrylic in heat or on big flats use S50/S80 (or S100 as an additive).
  • Don't go above 15 % by weight in PE primers — build drops and pinholing/shrinkage risk rises.
  • It's not a hardener or accelerator and does nothing for cure; PE is catalysed with EA1 + EC1.
  • Never put S13 into water-borne products.

Safety: Highly flammable liquid (fast solvent — vapour builds up quickly). Use in a ventilated spray booth with an A2 organic-vapour respirator and nitrile gloves. No naked flames or sparks; solvent rags go in a closed metal bin.
