CQS26
CQS26 solvent-based patina, wenge
Ready-mixed solvent-based patina in 'wenge' for antiquing, decapé/limed effects and grain emphasis on interior furniture and woodwork. Spray it over a sanded PU or acrylic primer or enamel, let it flash 5–10 minutes, then wipe it back by hand with a grey Scotch-Brite pad or steel wool so the colour stays in the pores, the recesses of mouldings and on the edges. Fast-drying, very low consumption, easy to remove by hand. It gives no protection on its own and must be locked in with a clear lacquer. Colours in the range can be intermixed or layered.
- antique/aged look on solid-wood and veneered furniture
- decapé on open-pore oak
- patinating raised-panel and carved doors over enamel
- polyurethane-foam (PU) mouldings, frames and decor
- 'blur' and 'shabby-chic' special effects
- classic, Provence and Mediterranean-style furniture

Mixing matrix
- % by weight: 100–200 %official% by volume: 100–200 %official
standard reduction per the official product page
S10 = faster dry, harder surface; S2000 = slightly slower dry but easier sanding (dealer description). The dealer phrases the same as 'thin 1–2 times with solvent'.
- % by weight: 100–300 %catalog
wider range quoted in the 2022 and 2025–26 catalogues — for a lighter, more see-through tone
2022 catalogue gives the same 100–300 % range. Catalogues do not say weight or volume — just '%'; for a solvent patina the difference is small.
- % by weight: 100–200 %dealer% by volume: 100–200 %dealer
dealer component table: S2000 / S13 ('PE thinner / patina thinner')
Dealer: wipe-off ease is adjusted by the thinner — with ethanol the patina comes off more easily, with S13 harder. In the dealer's cards S2000 is 'patina thinner' and S13 is a thinner for polyester lacquers and stains (SG 0.835, fast evaporation).
- этиловый спирт / ethanolThinner% by weight: 100–200 %recommended
when you want the patina to wipe off more easily
No ratio given — by analogy with S10/S2000, 100–200 % is sensible (see derived).
- S10Thinner% by weight: 100 %schedule
Technocolor finishing schedules: PU-foam mouldings, decapé oak doors (acrylic), open-pore oak doors (acrylic)
All three schedules use the same 1:1 with S10; 80–100 g/m² is stated in the PU-foam and decapé schedules (the open-pore schedule gives no patina consumption).

Lay it on thin and even, working into the mouldings and pores; after 5–10 min wipe back with a grey Scotch-Brite (07448 S UFN) or #2 steel wool. Don't flood the recesses — heavy patina is harder to remove and can lift under the lacquer.

Flow coating
'Blur' effect: primer → enamel → CQS 21–26 patina → blur with S10 sprayed at low pressure → clear ATL20 UM. 'Stone' effect: CTU/CQS stains and S10 spattered on with the gun at minimum pressure.
Process and compatibility
- Substrate preparation
- Over sanded, cured primer or enamel (PU or acrylic). Schedules: acrylic primer/enamel 1.5 h at 30–35 °C, PU 4 h at 20–25 °C; open-pore oak: ATS20 sanded P240–P320 plus K60/K80 pads; PU foam: K120 pads after primer.schedule
- Sanding
- After 5–10 min wipe back with Scotch-Brite 07448 S UFN or #2 steel wool; for shabby-chic, selectively cut through with coarse abrasive after the patina. In the schedules the lacquer goes on straight after wiping — no separate sanding of the patina.schedule
- Topcoat timing
- 10–60 minrecommended
- Temperature and humidity
- Schedules: patina dries at 20–25 °C (5–10 min); dealer: full dry 10 min at 20 °C. Humidity not specified.schedule
- Don'ts
- Don't leave it without a clear topcoat — it's a decorative layer only
- Don't build it heavy or flood the recesses
- Don't wipe before ~5 min (smears) or leave it much past 10 min (harder to take off)
- Don't apply over uncured or unsanded primer/enamel

Safety: Solvent-borne (S10/S2000/S13 thinners): flammable. Spray in a booth with extraction, wear an organic-vapour respirator (A2P2/A2P3), gloves and eye protection; put used rags and pads in a lidded metal bin or soak them in water.
