ATL500
ATL500 Thixotropic high-gloss 2K acrylic lacquer (100 gloss)
Two-pack clear acrylic (acrylic-PU) high-gloss lacquer with thixotropic rheology: levels out well on flat panels yet holds on verticals without runs or sags. Builds a deep 'lens', polishes easily, high physical/chemical resistance and non-yellowing over time. Cured with AC200 gloss hardener.

Mixing matrix
- AC200Hardener% by weight: 70 %official% by volume: 70 %official
always — fixed ratio
AC200 is the PU hardener for gloss materials (violet group on the catalogue chart, ≈44 % solids). No other hardener (AC40/AC41, PC series) is listed for ATL500 — don't substitute: ratio, hardness and gloss would all change. Weigh it; at 70 % a few percent error shows in hardness and gloss.
- S70Thinner% by weight: 20–30 (typ. 25) %official% by volume: 20–35 %official
primary option per official page; S70 is the slow thinner for high-gloss and dead-matt lines
S70: slow evaporation, medium solvency — gives the gloss time to flow out.
- S70Thinner% by weight: 30 %dealer% by volume: 35 %dealer
dealer recipe — the top of the official range
- % by weight: 0–20 %catalog
Catalogue 2025-26 says 0–20 % and allows S80 — conflicts with the website card (20–30 %). Low dilution suits airmix/heated or max build on verticals; S80 for hot shop / big flat panels.
S80: slow, SG 0.84 ± 0.01 (official).
- S50Thinner% by weight: 20–30 %recommended
NOT official. Only in a cold shop (<18 °C) when S70 stays open too long and catches dust.
Expect slightly less flow-out — test panel first.

For production runs of doors and fronts. Keep it agitated in the pump/pot.
Airless
Not the best choice for a gloss topcoat: the official methods page calls airless ideal for primers on large flat panels and says airmix suits topcoats better.
Process and compatibility
- Substrate preparation
- Primed or enamelled surface sanded flat (P320–P400), de-dusted, free of silicone, oil, wax.recommended
- Goes over
- PPS20 / PPL (RAL enamel) / APL 2XXXX (liquid gold leaf) / PPS400XX / CQS (patina) / TSE014-05 (crackle) / LEC19812 (Milesi NC lacquer, in crackle system)
- Sanding
- Between coats P400–P600. The gloss topcoat polishes after full cure (48–72 h best): P1500→P2000→P3000, then compound.recommended
- Temperature and humidity
- 18–25 °C, RH 50–70 %. Above 25 °C swap S70 for S80.recommended
- Don'ts
- Don't exceed the recommended film build (dealer)
- Don't use any hardener except AC200
- Don't polish before full cure
- Don't use mixed lacquer past 6 h pot life
- Don't eyeball the 70 % AC200 — weigh it

Safety: Solvent-borne with isocyanate hardener (AC200): spray in a ventilated booth, A2 organic-vapour respirator or air-fed mask, gloves, eye protection. Keep away from ignition sources.
