VTL30050

VTL30050 UV-cure spray lacquer for furniture, 50 gloss

Clear UV-cure spray lacquer for furniture, semi-gloss (50 gloss). Flows out very well and gives a highly transparent film that resists physical and chemical attack. Cures only under UV lamps — it will not dry on its own.

  • Clear topcoat for furniture fronts, panels and parts on lines with UV curing (official: «for furniture»)
  • Profiled parts, mouldings and frames that can't go through a roller coater or curtain coater (by analogy with the VTL30040 schedule)

Mixing matrix

  • S11Thinner
    % by weight: 15–20 %recommended

Default — follows Technocolor's schedule for the VTL300xx UV spray lacquers.

Catalog lists S11 as medium-evaporation (polyester gloss lacquer thinner). Flash off 5–10 min at 30–35 °C before the lamps.

  • S31Thinner
    % by weight: 10–20 (typ. 15) %recommended

    General-purpose option at 18–25 °C if S11 isn't on hand.

Let the solvent flash off completely before UV.

  • S30 / S13Thinner
    % by weight: 10–15 %recommended

Short line or little flash-off time; small and profiled parts.

On large flat panels may give orange peel and dry overspray — gloss will look uneven.

Percentages are per 100 parts of component A.

Process and compatibility

Substrate preparation
Sanded, dust-free clear UV primer (VTS30006, VTS60019; VTS40041 on profiles).recommended
Sanding

Temperature and humidity

Don'ts
  • Don't send it under the lamps before the solvent has flashed off
  • Don't expect it to dry without UV — it won't
  • Don't keep it in clear containers or in daylight
  • Don't add PU hardeners — it's single-pack
  • Don't polish the final 50-gloss coat — the sheen goes patchy

Storage

Storage temperature
5–25 °C, darkrecommended

Safety: UV acrylate monomers are strong skin sensitisers: nitrile gloves, goggles and a respirator for spraying. Shield eyes and skin from the UV lamps. (Recommendation, not from a Technocolor SDS.)
