CQS25
CQS25 Patina, Mahogany
Solvent-based mahogany patina for an aged, decapé or distressed look. Sprayed over a sanded PU or acrylic primer or enamel; after 5–10 minutes the excess is taken off with a Scotch-Brite pad or steel wool, leaving colour in the pores, profile recesses and on the edges. Fast drying, easy to remove by hand, very low consumption. Must be sealed under a clear lacquer.
- patina/ageing effect on interior furniture and woodwork
- solid-wood and veneered doors, raised-panel and carved doors over enamel
- decapé effect on open-pore oak
- polyurethane-foam mouldings (frames, decor, cornices)
- special effects: 'blur' (patina washed out with S10), shabby-chic, faux stone

Mixing matrix
- % by weight: 100–200 %official% by volume: 100–200 %official
the official page gives only codes and percentages; per the dealer description: S10 dries fast and gives a harder surface, S2000 dries slightly slower and sands/rubs back more easily
Patina is reduced 1:1 to 1:2 with thinner (dealer).
- % by weight: 100–300 %catalog
2025–26 (and 2022) catalog allows up to 300 % — for a lighter, more see-through tone
2022 catalog gives the same 100–300 % range (S10, S2000). Catalogs give no by-volume figure.
- % by weight: 100–200 %dealer% by volume: 100–200 %dealer
dealer component table: S2000 or S13; S13 makes the patina harder to remove. The dealer table swaps the labels ('S2000 = PE thinner', 'S13 = patina thinner'); per the 2025–26 catalog S2000 is the patina thinner (fast evaporating, low aggression) and S13 is a fast thinner for stains, patinas and PE primers
Dealer note: the choice of thinner sets how easily the patina comes off.
- ethanolThinner% by weight: as part of the 100–200 % reductionrecommended
ethyl alcohol — patina wipes off more easily (dealer)
No manufacturer ratio given.

all three official schedules (PU foam, decapé oak, open-pore oak): CQS 100 % + S10 100 % (1:1); 80–100 g/m² stated in the PU-foam and decapé schedules (not stated in the open-pore one)
Same ratio in the decapé and open-pore oak schedules.

- Don'ts
- don't leave patina without a clear coat — it isn't a protective finish
- don't lay it on heavy or flood recesses — it won't wipe back evenly
- don't wait more than 10–15 min with S10 before wiping back — it sets and comes off blotchy
- don't dry-sand flat areas through the patina before lacquering — you'll cut into the enamel
