CQS41A
CQS41A Gold patina
Solvent-based metallic gold patina for antique/decapé effects on wooden furniture and joinery. Sprayed over PU or acrylic primers/enamels, wiped back by hand with steel wool or Scotch-Brite after 5–10 minutes, then locked in with a clear lacquer. Very low consumption, fast drying, easy hand removal.
- Interior furniture and woodwork — antique/aged look
- Raised-panel and carved fronts finished in enamel (gold highlighting of the profile)
- Solid wood and veneer — decapé, open-pore oak finishes
- Picture-frame moulding, décor elements, fittings
- Polyurethane-foam (PU) mouldings over primer and enamel

Mixing matrix
- S10Thinner% by weight: 100–200 %official
Default (dealer): faster drying and a harder surface.
Cut 1:1 to 1:2 with solvent (dealer). Default 100 % taken from the official schedules (CQS : S10 = 100 : 100).
- S2000Thinner% by weight: 100–200 %official
Dries a little slower but gives easier sanding/rub-back (dealer).
S2000 is the dedicated patina thinner: fast evaporating, low aggressiveness (catalog p.19). Hence (derived) less risk of lifting a fresh primer/enamel.
- S10Thinner% by weight: 100 %schedule
Official schedules: PU foam over PPL20; open-pore oak over ATS20; decapé over APL20.
Schedule spread rate 80–100 g/m².
- % by weight: 100–300 %catalog
Catalog for the whole CQS series allows up to 300 % — for a very light, see-through haze.
The CQS41A page itself says 100–200 %; treat 300 % as the series ceiling only.
- S13Thinner% by weight: 100–200 %dealer
When the patina must resist wiping (hold harder).
Dealer note for the CQS series: ethyl alcohol makes it wipe off easier, S13 harder. Not stated on the CQS41A page itself; the catalog lists S13 as suitable for patinas.

Process and compatibility
- Substrate preparation
- Apply over a prepared PU or acrylic primer or enamel (official page, dealer). Per the schedules: enamel/primer dried 4 h at 20–25 °C (PU) or 1.5 h at 30–35 °C (acrylic); in the open-pore schedule the ATS20 primer is sanded P240–P320 and with K60–K80 pads before the patina, while the PU-foam and decapé schedules apply patina straight onto the dried enamel.official
- Wipe-back
- After 5–10 min wipe back with No.2 steel wool or Scotch-Brite: take more off flats and high points, leave it in the recesses and pores.schedule
- Topcoat
- Always lock in with a clear lacquer.dealer
- First topcoat coat
- First lacquer pass light and dry-ish so the lacquer solvent doesn't drag or smear the patina; then a full coat.recommended
- Temperature and humidity
- Dry at 20–25 °C (official schedules).schedule
- Don'ts
- Don't leave it without a clear lacquer topcoat (dealer).
- Don't sand the patina with paper before lacquering — steel wool / Scotch-Brite only (derived).
- Don't build it up thick or in several passes — one coat (dealer).
- Not for exterior use: intended for interior items (dealer).
