CQS24
CQS24 Patina, Cherry
Solvent-borne patina for antiquing, decapé and grain-highlight effects on wooden furniture and joinery. Sprayed over PU or acrylic primer (or enamel), then the excess is cut back with steel wool or Scotch-Brite so colour stays in pores, recesses and on edges. Fast drying, easy to wipe back by hand, very low consumption. Must be locked in with a clear lacquer.

One light, even coat — don't let it puddle in recesses. 15–20 cm distance. After 5–10 min cut back with Scotch-Brite (07448 S UFN) or #2 steel wool, leaving colour in pores, on edges and in the carving.

Process and compatibility
- Substrate preparation
- Sand the primer (P240–P320 on flats, K60–K120 pads on profiles). Then either patina directly over the sanded clear primer (ATS20, open-pore schedule) or over dried enamel (APL20 / PPL20) laid on the sanded primer — the enamel is not sanded before patina.schedule
- Sanding
- Cut back with #2 steel wool or Scotch-Brite 07448 S UFN after 5–10 min drying.schedule
- Blur technique
- 'Blur' effect: APS20106 primer → APL enamel → CQS 21–26 patina → soften with S10 sprayed at low pressure → ATL20 UM clear lacquer.catalog
- Temperature and humidity
- 20–25 °Cschedule
- Don'ts
- Never leave it without a clear topcoat — it is only fixed by lacquer
- Don't lay it on heavy: one light 80–100 g/m² coat
- Don't wait too long to cut back — it dries fast and gets harder to remove after ~10 min

Safety: Solvent-borne: spray in a ventilated booth, wear an organic-vapour (A) respirator, keep away from ignition sources. (General solvent-coating practice — no product-specific SDS data published.)
