EPS22
EPS22 White polyester primer (universal / economy)
White filled polyester primer (system: part A + EA1 accelerator + EC1/EC2 peroxide hardener). Builds hardness fast, practically no shrinkage over time, sands well by hand or machine, good hiding. A cheap way to get pigmented MDF work done fast, mainly under matt topcoats. New version: sandable from 3 h, better flow, less soak-in on MDF when sprayed without an isolator, better hiding.
- MDF furniture fronts and panels
- doors
- routed/profiled fronts
- build primer under matt pigmented topcoats (PU/acrylic enamels)
- can go straight onto bare MDF (isolator optional)

Mixing matrix

always; add to part A first and stir in thoroughly
3.3 % by volume as printed on the official page (EPS20 lists 2.5 %).
- EA1Accelerator% by weight: 3 %dealer
need it faster (cold shop) — together with EC1 at 3 %
dealer: raise EC1 to 3 % and EA1 to 3 %
- EA1Accelerator% by weight: 1–1.5 %dealer
need longer pot life (hot shop, bigger batches) — keep EC1 at 2 %
dealer: drop EA1 to 1.5–1 %, catalyse with 2 % EC1
- % by weight: 2 %official% by volume: 2.5 %official
standard (EC1); EC2 when you need longer pot life; add last, right before spraying
EC1 = standard hardener; EC2 = slow hardener that extends pot life (2025-26 catalog p.12; the 2019 catalog footnotes EC2 'to increase pot life'). Same 2 % dose either way.
- EC1Hardener% by weight: 3 %dealer
speed up the cure
dealer: EC1 can be raised to 3 % for speed
- % by weight: 10–15 %official% by volume: 20–30 %official
S10 = fast, strong solvent (catalog lists it for PE primers); S11 = medium evaporation
Default 15 % follows Technocolor's PE-primer schedule (EPS20) which uses 15 %.
- S13Thinner% by weight: 10–15 %dealer% by volume: 15–20 %dealer
alternative — fast thinner, catalog lists it for PE primers
The dealer shop lists S13 as the companion thinner for EPS22. Note: the dealer weight/volume pair (10–15 / 15–20) is inconsistent with the official S10/S11 pair (10–15 / 20–30) — thinner densities are similar, so one of the two volume figures is probably off.

- Pressure · air
- inlet 2.0–2.5 bar trigger pulled, cap ≤ 0.7 barrecommended

HVLP atomises PE primer coarser — plan on sanding it flat (P240–P320).

Watch the ~20 min pot life: a catalysed batch gels in the pump — use a plural-component (catalyst-injection) rig or flush often.

Process and compatibility
- Substrate preparation

- Sanding
- P240 → P280 → P320, then pads K150–K180, after ≥ 12 h at 20–25 °Cschedule
- Temperature and humidity
- 18–25 °C shop, part and material ≥ 18 °C; RH ≤ 70 %recommended
- Don'ts
- NEVER mix EC1/EC2 hardener straight into EA1 accelerator — violent, potentially fire-starting reaction; order: A + EA1, stir, thinner, then EC1
- don't keep catalysed mix past ~20 min or leave it in the gun
- don't spray below ~15 °C
- don't sand before 12 h (3 h is best case only)
- not meant for high-gloss builds — it's a primer for matt finishes (Technocolor offers ETS20/EPS20 for gloss)
Storage
- Packaging
- 25 kgdealer
Safety: Contains styrene (flammable, harmful vapour) — spray booth, organic-vapour respirator, gloves, goggles. Store the peroxide hardener EC1/EC2 away from the EA1 accelerator and never let them touch directly. Let leftover catalysed mix cure out in the open before binning — it gets hot.
