CPH9

CPH9 water-based pigmented wood stain, black (concentrate)

Water-reducible pigmented wood stain in black, supplied as a concentrate. Evens out colour variation, hides wood defects, levels well and is lightfast. Used for black / ebonised finishes on oak, ash, birch and veneered MDF, wenge-style tones, and to darken or dirty-down other CPH stains.

  • Staining furniture in any timber species
  • Black / ebonised finishes under clear lacquer (open-pore oak/ash)
  • Darkening and toning down other CPH stains by intermixing
  • Tinting exterior coatings (catalog, CPH series)

Mixing matrix

  • waterThinner
    % by weight: 400–600 % of concentrateofficial% by volume: 400–600 % of concentrateofficial

    Standard dilution for spraying

Clean (ideally demineralised) water. More water = lighter, more translucent tone with more grain showing.

  • waterThinner
    % by weight: 400–1000 % of concentratecatalog

Catalog value for the whole CPH series: up to 1000 % for a light, glaze-like tone

Catalog does not say by weight or volume — for a water system the difference is small.

  • CFH1Additive
    % by weight: 0–200 % of concentrateofficial% by volume: 0–200 % of concentrateofficial

    Binder (official site: 0–200 %)

The binder locks the pigment, reduces grain raise and colour rub-off during sanding or the first primer coat.

  • CFH1Additive
    % by weight: 15–20 % (dealer: «связующее CFH1 (15-20%)»; weight/volume and basis not stated)dealer

Dealer advice: for more even application and less grain raise

    Working example (recommendation): 100 g CPH9 + 500 g water + ~100 g CFH1 ≈ 15 % of the ready mix — also within the official 0–200 %.

  • CTH / CFH1 / waterAdditive
    % by weight: 400 % CFH1 per 100 CTH, + water 1000 %schedule

Reference only: CFH1 dosing in an official schedule with the CTH water dye concentrate; not stated for CPH9

Stain dries 20 min at 20–25 °C in this schedule (beech-veneer worktops, PU) before PTS60 primer. The other schedule (beech chairs, PU) uses CTH 100 : CFH2 800 : water 1200, 30 min dry.

Percentages are per 100 parts of component A.

Sanding
Don't sand the stain itself — sand the first primer coat (P280–P320 per dealer schedule); black pigment rubs through to pale wood on edges easily and shows immediately.recommended
Temperature and humidity

Don'ts
  • Do not let it freeze
  • Do not flood it on — blotches, runs and tide marks
  • Do not overcoat before fully dry (4 h at 20 °C)
  • Do not reduce with solvents — water only

Not covered by the sources
  • Exact pigment type (carbon black / iron oxide black) not published
  • Solids content of the concentrate (not published by official site, dealer or catalog)
  • Viscosity of the concentrate and density
  • Dust-free / touch-dry times (only 4 h full dry given by dealer)
  • Shelf life and official storage temperature
  • Basis of the dealer's CFH1 15–20 % (of concentrate or of ready mix) — official page gives 0–200 % of concentrate
  • CFH1 binder has no official or dealer product page (no own characteristics)

  • Dealer page for CPH9 has no step-by-step schedule (unlike CPH10); the HTL20 SM over-coat sequence is inferred from the CPH10 dealer page for the same series
  • Not used in any official finishing schedule (information/technology); the only CFH1 schedule uses CTH concentrate dye
