PPL500
PPL500 White gloss thixotropic PU enamel (100 gloss)
Two-pack white polyurethane gloss enamel (100 gloss), thixotropic: holds on verticals without runs or sags, flows out and pulls tight to a deep gloss. High hiding power, very good hardness and chemical resistance. Built as a topcoat for vertical spraying; can be burnished/polished.
- White high-gloss finish on vertical surfaces (fronts, doors, panels)
- Chairs, coffins and other solid-wood or MDF items
- Carvings and complex shapes
- Kitchens, tables, bathrooms (interior only)

Mixing matrix
- AC200Hardener% by weight: 70 %official% by volume: 90 %official
default — best resistance and gloss
AC200 is the gloss-line hardener (≈44 % solids per catalog chart). Weigh it — at 70 % a small error shows in hardness and gloss.
- AC200Hardener% by weight: 70–100 %dealer% by volume: 70 %dealer
dealer range; upper end (up to 100 %) adds crosslink density — never go above 100 %
Dealer working value is 70 %; use 100 % only if a Technocolor technologist tells you to.
- PC210Hardener% by weight: 70–100 %dealer% by volume: 70 %dealer
when faster drying is needed (dealer: C210 dries faster, C200 gives better resistance)
PC210 yellows slightly more than AC200 (catalog scale); expect shorter pot life.
- AC200Hardener% by weight: 50–70 %dealer
recipe on woodonline listing (shown as 'C200')
Conflicts with the official 70 % — don't go below 70 without the maker's word.
- S70Thinner% by weight: 20–30 (typ. 25) %official% by volume: 30–40 %official
primary per official page; S70 is the slow thinner for high-gloss lines
S70: slow evaporation, medium solvency (catalog) — buys flow-out time for the gloss.
- % by weight: 30–40 (typ. 35) %catalog
catalog and dealers; S80 is also slow — use it in heat (above ~25 °C) and on big panels
S80 density 0.84 (official). Thinner doesn't change cure time. Top of range for HVLP/conventional, bottom for airmix.
- % by weight: 5–10 %dealer
hot weather — retarder for better flow-out
Official S100 page: prevents air bubbles in the film in summer. Only on top of the main thinner, never instead of it.

Process and compatibility
- Substrate preparation
- White PU or PE primer sanded flat (P320–P400 / pads K150–K180), de-dusted, free of silicone, oil, wax. Resinous wood and MDF: PTS71 isolator first.recommended
- Sanding
- Between coats P400–P600. Polish no sooner than 3 days (dealer): P1500→P2000→P3000, then compound (PPL200 schedule uses 3M Finesse-it 81820, 06002).recommended
- Temperature and humidity
- 18–25 °C, RH 50–70 %. In heat add 5–10 % S100/S101 on top of the thinner.recommended
- Don'ts
- No hardener other than AC200/PC210
- Weigh the hardener — dealer: ratios are by weight
- Don't polish before 3 days
- Don't exceed 150 g/m² per pass — even thixotropic enamel will solvent-pop
- Interior only
- Don't spray mix past its pot life
Storage
Safety: 2K solvent-borne PU with isocyanate hardener: spray booth with extraction, organic-vapour respirator (A2P2) or supplied air, gloves, eye protection. Flammable. No official SDS found.
