PC210

PC210 PU hardener for gloss finishes (fast)

Isocyanate hardener (component B) for Technocolor's 100-gloss polyurethane lacquers, enamels and converters: PTL200, PTL500, PTL100, PPL200, PPL500, PPL100. The fast alternative to AC200 — dealer: 'C210 gives faster drying, C200 higher physical/chemical resistance'. The catalog chart puts it in the 'hardeners for gloss lacquers' group, ≈36 % solids, toward the fast/hard end; for yellowing resistance only AC200, AC41 and AC40 rank higher. No official page; it was the main gloss-PU hardener in the 2022 catalog, replaced by AC200 in the 2025–2026 recipes, and the dealer has deleted its listing.

  • Component B for PTL200 and thixotropic PTL500 gloss PU lacquers
  • Component B for white gloss PU enamels PPL200 and thixotropic PPL500
  • Component B for the PTL100 / PPL100 gloss tinting converters
  • Where faster drying / quicker packing of gloss work is needed instead of AC200

Slow thinners for high-gloss PU — give flow-out and a tight film.

    For PTL100 the official page gives S70/S80 20–40 % by weight and volume; for PPL100 the 2022 catalog gives S80 20–30 %. Dealer lists S80 only for PTL500, and S80/S70 30–40 % (by weight only) for PPL500.

  • S100 / S101Additive
    % by weight: 5–10 %dealer

Hot weather — retarder for better flow-out.

Especially relevant with PC210: a fast hardener plus heat shortens open time.

Application

Mixing component

Why ru
Соотношения — официальные/дилерские/каталожные; порядок смешивания, выдержка после смешивания, фильтрация и защита от влаги — стандартная практика для 2К ПУ.

PC210 is never applied on its own. Sequence: stir component A (thixotropic PTL500/PPL500 especially well), weigh in PC210 (dealer: proportions are parts by weight), mix, add S70/S80, let stand 5–10 min, strain (125–190 µm). Close the hardener can tightly at once — isocyanate reacts with air moisture.

Process and compatibility

Don'ts
  • Never apply PC210 on its own or thin it separately
  • Don't mix up ratios: dealer gives 50–70 % for PTL200/PTL500, the 2022 catalog 70–100 % — stick to one source per batch
  • Don't leave the can open — moisture ruins the hardener
  • Don't polish before 3 days
  • Where maximum chemical resistance matters (worktops, kitchens) use AC200, not PC210

Storage

Safety: Contains isocyanates and organic solvents. Spray in an extracted booth with an organic-vapour respirator (A2P2 or better), nitrile gloves and eye protection. Keep away from ignition sources. Not for people sensitised to isocyanates.
