LNB5

LNB5 polyurethane hardener (Milesi), electrostatic grade

Milesi polyurethane (isocyanate) hardener — component B for the LGA531–LGA536 thixotropic PU lacquers and the LBA521 thixotropic PU sealer. Technocolor lists it alongside LNB42/LNB77 (lacquers) and LNB77 (sealer), always at 50 % by weight and by volume. It has no page on t-color.ru and isn't stocked at t-colormarket.ru. Per Milesi dealers, LNB5 (a.k.a. LNB05) is the hardener for electrostatic bell/disc application and for jobs that need extra wetting/flow-out. Solids, viscosity and isocyanate type are not published.

  • second component of the LGA531 (65 gloss), LGA532 (45), LGA533 (30), LGA534 (20), LGA535 (10), LGA536 (3 gloss) thixotropic PU lacquers
  • second component of the LBA521 thixotropic PU sealer
  • electrostatic bells and discs; anywhere extra wetting is needed (Milesi dealer)

  • % by weight: 50 %dealer

Recommended for electrostatic bells and discs, or wherever extra wetting is needed.

The Ukrainian Milesi dealer (LGA532/533 page, notes for the LGA 531÷536 series) writes 'LNB 5/05 (electrostatics)', i.e. LNB5 = LNB05 in Milesi numbering; thinner given there is LZC1026. Alternatives on that page: LNB42, LNB77 (normal spray), LNB36 (faster dry, better vertical hold), LNB06 (better fill/softness).

  • LBA528base
    % by weight: 50 %schedule% by volume: 50 %schedule

    Milesi electrostatic schedule (Bulgarian distributor): LBA528 sealer + 50 % LNB05 or LNB06 (higher solids) + 20–25 % LZC13; dries 30–45 min, sand after 3 h at P280–320.

Technocolor does not pair LBA528 with LNB5: the official LBA528 page gives LNB6/LNB77 50 % (by weight and volume). The LNB05 pairing is from the Bulgarian Milesi distributor's schedule.

Earth the part (methods page). LNB5 is the hardener for bells and discs (better wetting, Milesi dealer). Per the Milesi schedule, sand the sealer after 3 h and lacquer within 4 h of sanding.

Don'ts
  • don't change the 100:50 ratio — under- or over-catalysing ruins the film
  • don't leave the tin open — the isocyanate reacts with air moisture
  • don't blend LNB5 with LNB42/LNB77 in one mix without a test
  • don't use it with acrylic (ATL/ATS) or polyester materials — they have their own hardeners (AC40/AC200, EC1/EC2)

Safety: Contains isocyanates and solvents: flammable, harmful vapour, can sensitise the airways. Spray in a booth with extraction, wear an A2 carbon respirator (A2P2 or air-fed when spraying), gloves and goggles.
