LGA533

LGA533 thixotropic 2K polyurethane lacquer, 30 gloss

Two-pack clear polyurethane topcoat, 30 gloss, from Milesi's LGA531–536 series, built for electrostatic and ordinary spray. Thixotropic so it hangs on verticals without runs, dries fast and leaves a silky, nice-to-touch film. Made for chairs, turnings, carvings and frames — parts you spray all round in one go.

  • chairs, stools, children's furniture
  • turnings: spindles, legs, handrails
  • carved and relief parts, frames, overlays
  • electrostatic finishing on hangers or conveyors

When: Always, fixed at 50 %. Per Milesi: LNB5 (= LNB05) for electrostatic spray (bells/discs) or when you need better wetting; LNB42 and LNB77 for ordinary air spray; LNB42 gives more fill.

When: S50 — universal, medium evaporation: normal 18–24 °C shop. S70 — slow (medium solvency): above ~25 °C, big hanger loads, long passes round a chair. S80 — slow with good solvency: same, plus when the film goes dry/sandy on edges and won't knit.

Mixing matrix

    % by weight: 50 %official% by volume: 50 %official

Always, fixed at 50 %. Per Milesi: LNB5 (= LNB05) for electrostatic spray (bells/discs) or when you need better wetting; LNB42 and LNB77 for ordinary air spray; LNB42 gives more fill.

LNB77 is 25 ± 1 % solids (t-colormarket). Technocolor's 'LNB5' is Milesi LNB05 (Milesi dealer writes 'LNB 5/05', the Bulgarian distributor 'LNB05'; Technocolor likewise writes LNB6 for LNB06 on LBA528). Hardeners hate moisture — lid straight back on.

  • LNB500Hardener
    % by weight: 50 %datasheet

Milesi TDS standard (3 h pot life).

Not listed under this code in Technocolor's range. The newer Milesi TDS also mentions LNB36 (faster drying, better hang) and LNB06 (more fill and softness), both at 50 %; neither is listed by Technocolor.

  • LNB42Hardener
    % by weight: 50 %datasheet

For better filling power (Milesi TDS: 'use LNB 42 (50 %) instead of LNB 500').

  • LNB (series)Hardener
    % by volume: 50 %dealer

Electrostatic schedule from Milesi's Bulgarian distributor — 'a hardener from the LNB series', no specific code.

  • S50 / S70 / S80Thinner
    % by weight: 10–30 (typ. 20) %official% by volume: 10–30 %official

S50 — universal, medium evaporation: normal 18–24 °C shop. S70 — slow (medium solvency): above ~25 °C, big hanger loads, long passes round a chair. S80 — slow with good solvency: same, plus when the film goes dry/sandy on edges and won't knit.

Thinner choice doesn't change cure time. Slow thinner on a thixotropic lacquer on verticals still raises sag risk if you flood it.

  • LZC1026Thinner
    % by weight: 10–30 %datasheet

Milesi's own thinner per the TDS; Technocolor substitutes S50.

  • LZC13Thinner
    % by volume: 25–35 %dealer

Electrostatic spray: Milesi's dedicated electrostatic thinner. Text says 25–30 %, the worked example is 35 %.

Electrostatic thinners are tuned for conductivity; Technocolor's S50/S70/S80 aren't sold as electrostatic grades — check wrap and charge on a test part before running a batch.

Process and compatibility

Substrate preparation
Solid wood (beech etc.) or MDF: sand, stain if wanted with CFT water stain (dipped), then an electrostatic PU sealer LBA523 / LBA528, dry, sand P280–P320 after 3 h, topcoat within 4 h of sanding.datasheet
Goes over
LBA523 / LBA528 / LBA521 / CFT
Sanding
Sealer P280–P320 after 3 h; between topcoats P400–P600 / grey pad; never sand or polish the final 30-gloss coat.dealer
Temperature and humidity
Data measured at 20 °C, 70 % RH (TDS). Work at normal shop temperature, ~18–25 °C material and room.datasheet
Don'ts
  • Don't topcoat a sealer that's less than ~2 h old — PU topcoats wet poorly over fresh sealer (Milesi TDS).
  • Don't use it on big flat horizontals (tabletops, doors) — thixotropic lacquer flows out poorly: orange peel, starved pores.
  • Don't brush or roll it — fast two-pack thixotropic lacquer.
  • Don't eyeball the hardener — 50 %, every time.
  • Don't leave the hardener can open — moisture kills the isocyanate.
  • Don't sand or polish the final 30-gloss coat.

Safety: Two-pack PU: the hardener contains isocyanates and the solvents are flammable. Spray in an extracted booth, wear an A2P2 respirator (air-fed is better) and nitrile gloves. With electrostatics earth everything and avoid sparking. Don't seal leftover mixed material tight — it gives off CO₂.

Not covered by the sources
  • Technocolor-specific data sheet for LGA533 not found; characteristics come from Milesi TDS data (2007 series TDS + newer TDS transcribed by a Ukrainian Milesi dealer) and dealer pages of sister LGA531
  • Old 2007 Milesi TDS lists LGA533 = 20 ± 2 gloss (swap with LGA534); newer TDS, Technocolor and the BG distributor all give 30 — treated as resolved to 30
  • Part-A viscosity differs between the 2007 TDS (32 ± 3 s ISO 6 mm) and the newer TDS (40 ± 4 s Ford 4 mm) — probably a reformulation
  • t-colormarket.ru dealer page delisted (404) — no live 'Все технические характеристики' table for LGA533
  • Ready-to-spray viscosity not published
  • Pot life: 2 h (newer TDS) vs 3 h with LNB500 (2007 TDS); not published per Technocolor hardener
  • No electrostatic-grade thinner in Technocolor's S-range; conductivity of S50/S70/S80 unknown
  • No sandable-after / recoat-after-sanding time for the topcoat itself (only TDS 'hard dry 4 h')
  • Lightfastness/yellowing, chemical resistance, elasticity: no published values
