PPS40091
PPS40091 black PU primer (for MDF)
Two-pack pigmented polyurethane primer in black, high solids (72 %). Wets the substrate well, bonds well to MDF, hides strongly and shrinks back very little over time; doesn't soak into MDF much and accentuates open pores. Cured with an aromatic isocyanate hardener (PC20 per the official page and catalog, PC25 per the dealer). Meant as the base under dark and coloured PU enamels - a black primer won't show through on chips and edges and saves coats of dark topcoat.
- priming MDF furniture doors and panels for coloured enamels
- base for dark (black, graphite, navy) PU enamels such as PPL R9005
- routed MDF doors and edges where a white primer would grin through a dark topcoat

Mixing matrix
- PC20Hardener% by weight: 25 %official% by volume: 35 %official
The maker's primary recipe (t-color.ru page and 2025-2026 catalog).
Aromatic hardener for PU primers and matt lacquers, ≈27 % solids (catalog p.19). Fixed ratio - don't fiddle with it.
- PC25Hardener% by weight: 30 %dealer% by volume: 40 %dealer
Recipe from the official dealer t-colormarket.ru (sold with PC25 as the companion hardener).
Sources disagree: site/catalog say PC20 at 25 %, dealer says PC25 at 30 %. PC25 is the universal aromatic hardener - per the catalog slightly faster/harder and a touch less yellowing than PC20. Use the ratio that goes with the hardener you actually bought; don't mix and match numbers.
- S50Thinner% by weight: 30 %official% by volume: 50 %official
With PC20 per the official recipe.
S50 is the universal medium-evaporation thinner (official; catalog: for PU and acrylic primers).
- S50Thinner% by weight: 10–20 (typ. 15) %dealer% by volume: 15–30 %dealer
With PC25 per the dealer recipe; when you want more build per pass.
Less thinner = more build, but you need a 1.8-2.0 mm tip. On a 1.5 mm tip stay nearer 30 % (official recipe).
- S80Thinner% by weight: 10–30 %recommended
Only above ~25 °C or on big panels if S50 dries to a dry, sandy overspray.
Not from Technocolor's documents - a recommendation.

- Don'ts
- Don't use as a topcoat - aromatic hardener yellows and it's a sanding primer
- Don't mix up recipes: PC20 at 25 % (site/catalog) vs PC25 at 30 % (dealer)
- Don't use under white or light enamels - the black will grin through
- Not for PU-foam mouldings - use PPS40/PPS40720 there
- Don't seal leftover mixed product airtight - isocyanate + moisture makes CO₂ and can blow the lid
- Keep the hardener tin closed - it spoils from air moisture

Safety: Flammable (solvent base, S50 thinner). PC20/PC25 hardener contains isocyanates - a respiratory sensitiser: spray only in an extracted booth with an A2P2 organic-vapour respirator (or air-fed mask), nitrile gloves and goggles. No eating or smoking in the work area.
