PPS40045

PPS40045 PU primer for PU foam, mahogany

Two-pack pigmented polyurethane primer in mahogany for cast PU-foam parts (cornices, mouldings, carved ornaments) and MDF. Good adhesion to PU foam and MDF, high solids (76 %). It's the adhesion coat under coloured PU enamels; the red-brown tone makes a good ground for patina and distressing — where edges and relief are sanded through, a warm wood-like tone shows. Hardener is C20040 (standard) or C20041 (flexible, for bendy parts and problem foam, slower drying). There is no t-color.ru page — data come from the dealer card and the 2019 Technocolor catalogue.

  • priming PU-foam parts before coloured enamels
  • priming MDF before coloured enamels
  • flexible parts and problem foam (with C20041 hardener)
  • coloured ground under CQS patina and shabby-chic distressing

Don'ts
  • don't prime over unremoved mould-release on PU foam
  • don't exceed 20 % hardener
  • don't leave the hardener tin open (isocyanate + moisture)
  • don't use the mix past its 3 h pot life
  • don't leave the primer as a topcoat
