PPL R8022 M

PPL R8022 M 2K PU enamel, black-brown (RAL 8022), matt 20 gloss

Two-pack polyurethane enamel in black-brown (RAL 8022), matt 20 gloss. Like the rest of the PPL RAL line: high hide, good thin-film flow, good chemical and scratch resistance; usable as the finish coat. Factory-tinted, so the shade holds from batch to batch.

  • furniture fronts and MDF panels
  • finish coat on interior furniture and wood/MDF items
  • dark base coat under special effects (liquid leaf, ATL22170 pearl)

always — the standard PPL RAL hardener, fixed 50 % for the M versions

Weigh it, don't eyeball it: short gives a soft film, over gives brittleness. Confirm the ratio with Technocolor's technologist before the first batch — it isn't published anywhere for R8022.

  • PC20Hardener
    % by weight: 50 %recommended% by volume: 60 %recommended

only once Technocolor confirms it — not stated for R8022

Carried over from R9005 M; default to PC60.

    Doesn't change cure time.

  • S70Thinner
    % by weight: 20–30 %recommended% by volume: 30–35 %recommended

slow — above ~25 °C, large panels, when you need more flow-out

Longer open time: more dust and sag risk on verticals — and dust shows badly on a dark colour. Can be blended with S50 as long as the total stays 20–30 %.

Conventional spray

Air spray is the method the dealer gives for every PPL RAL enamel. Lots of overspray — good extraction is a must. recommended

Temperature and humidity
18–25 °C material, room and substrate (not below 15 °C), RH 50–70 %recommended
Don'ts
  • don't use the mix past ~4 h at 20 °C
  • don't thin past 30 % — hide and build drop off
  • don't lay heavy coats wet-on-wet — solvent pop
  • don't sand or polish the final coat
  • don't spray in high humidity — haze shows immediately on a dark colour
  • don't start a batch without Technocolor confirming the ratios — they aren't published for R8022

Safety: Use respiratory, hand and eye protection and overalls in production. Keep away from children. Dispose of waste at an approved site; never release to the environment. PC60/PC20 hardeners contain isocyanates — A2/P2 organic-vapour respirator or supplied air.
