PC10
PC10 Hardener for PU coatings
Aromatic isocyanate hardener, fairly reactive and fast-drying. Used as the second component in polyurethane primers/sealers and matt PU lacquers.
- Second component for PU primers/sealers and matt PU lacquers
- PTL80 lacquer/sealer (all gloss levels) — 50 %
- PTS10 economy clear PU sealer — 50 %
- PPS10 economy white PU primer — 40 %
- PTL10 (2022 catalog) — 50 %

Mixing matrix
- PTL80 Mbase_component% by weight: 50 %official% by volume: 50 %official
Main use: the standard hardener for PTL80 self-sealing lacquer.
Fixed ratio. Thin with S50 20–30 % by weight / 25–35 % by volume, added after the hardener.
- % by weight: 50 %catalog
PTL80 gloss levels per the 2022 catalog (M 20, SM 30, G 90). For SM the dealer gives the same 50 % by weight and by volume (listed as 'PC80').
- PTS10base_component% by weight: 50 %catalog
Economy clear PU sealer (alternative: PC20 at 40 %).
- PPS10base_component% by weight: 40 %catalog
Economy white PU primer (alternative: PC20 at 30 %).
- PTL10base_component% by weight: 50 %catalog
Discontinued PTL10 lacquer/sealer (2022 catalog).
- S50Thinner% by weight: 10–30 %source
Thinner for every PC10 system: 20–30 % for lacquers and clear sealers, 10–20 % for white PPS10.
Never thin the hardener on its own or use extra hardener in place of thinner. PTL80 by volume: 25–35 % (official) / 20–30 % (dealer).
- PC20substitute_hardener% by weight: 30–40 %catalog
2025-catalog substitute: PTL80/PTS10 — PC20 40 % instead of PC10 50 %; PPS10 — PC20 30 % instead of PC10 40 %. On the catalog scale PC20 yellows slightly less; both sit on the fast/hard side of the chart.
PC20 is probably dosed lower because it carries more solids (≈27 % vs ≈23 % read off the catalog chart) — an inference, not a quoted statement.

For production work with PTL80/PPS10. Mind the 4 h pot life — flush the pump before the mix thickens.
Process and compatibility
- Mixing
- Weigh component A, add PC10 exactly per the host product's ratio, stir, then add S50; let it stand 5–10 min and strain.recommended
- Temperature and humidity
- 15–25 °C, RH < 70 %recommended
- Don'ts
- Don't eyeball the ratio — excess hardener gives a brittle film, too little leaves it soft and tacky
- Don't use for topcoats over white enamels or pale timber — it yellows
- Don't blend it with other hardeners in the same pot
- Don't leave the tin open — air moisture ruins it (goes cloudy, thickens, gels)
- Don't spray mix that has thickened past its pot life
