PC80

PC80 PU hardener (as listed by the dealer for PTL80 SM)

Hardener for the two-pack PU self-sealing lacquer PTL80 SM (30 gloss), 50 % by weight and by volume per the dealer listing. It does not exist as a product at Technocolor or the dealer; every official source puts the aromatic hardener PC10 in that slot.

  • Second component of PTL80 SM — 50 % (dealer listing only)

Code unverified and not purchasable. In practice use PC10 at the same ratio.

  • PC10Hardener
    % by weight: 50 %official% by volume: 50 %official

Standard hardener for the whole PTL80 family (official site; 2022 catalog: 'PC10 50 %' for M/SM/G)

Confirmed at 50 % by the 2022 and 2025 catalogs.

  • PC20Hardener
    % by weight: 40 %catalog

    Alternative to PC10 per the 2025 catalog ('PC10 / PC20 — 50 / 40 %')

Slightly better yellowing resistance than PC10.

    Main thinner

    Official PTL80 M page: 20–30 % by weight = 25–35 % by volume; the dealer's SM card shows 20–30 % by volume too — likely simplified.

  • S100Additive
    % by weight: 5–10 %dealer

When flow-out needs help (heat, large flat panels)

Retarder S100 at 5–10 % on top of the main thinner to improve flow.

PTL80 SM
Don'ts
  • Do not try to order PC80 — no such product; use PC10
  • Do not use an aromatic hardener under pale/white finishes — it yellows
  • Close the can immediately — isocyanate reacts with air moisture

Storage

Safety: Contains isocyanates: use a carbon-filter or air-fed respirator, gloves and extraction. (General PU hardener practice.)

Not covered by the sources
  • PC80 itself: no product page, no dealer item, no catalog entry, no TDS — every intrinsic property (solids, NCO content, density, viscosity, packaging, shelf life) unknown
  • Confirmation from Technocolor that PC80 = PC10 (or a discontinued/regional code)
  • Volume ratio of S50 for PTL80 SM (dealer 20–30 % vs official 25–35 % for M)
  • Shelf life / storage temperature / packaging
  • Not used in any official finishing schedule (dealer schedule exists only for PTL80 M with PC10)
  • No TDS found (web search budget exhausted in this run)
