PTL80 SG
PTL80 SG PU lacquer-primer (self-sealer), 40 gloss
Two-pack polyurethane self-sealing lacquer (lacquer-primer) for furniture: the same product goes on as sealer and as topcoat. Dries fast, flows out very well and leaves a smooth, pleasant-to-the-touch film with good physical and chemical resistance and a good hardness/flexibility balance. Raises the grain only minimally. Part A is 40 % solids; cured with the aromatic hardener PC10 (50 %) and thinned with S50.
- Furniture fronts and panels in various wood species
- Self-sealing 'lacquer over lacquer' system with no separate sealer (official: 'can be used as a self-sealer')
- Topcoat over PU sealer and over CTU-series stain (dealer instruction)
- Interior use only (dealer, PTL80 UM)
- Fronts, doors, kitchens, bathrooms, tables, chairs; MDF and solid wood (woodonline)

Mixing matrix
- PC80Hardener% by weight: 50 %dealer% by volume: 50 %dealer
Listed by the dealer for PTL80 SG (woodonline).
CAUTION: there is no PC80 hardener in the 2025 catalog hardener chart nor in t-colormarket's hardener section — probably a dealer typo for PC10. Confirm with Technocolor before ordering. The same PC80 50/50 appears on the t-colormarket PTL80 SM listing — woodonline likely copied that dealer table.
- PC10Hardener% by weight: 50 %official% by volume: 50 %official
Official PTL80-family hardener — use it until PC80 is confirmed.
PC10 is aromatic, highly reactive and fast-drying, 24 ± 1 % solids (dealer). Fixed ratio — do not adjust by eye.
- S50Thinner% by weight: 20–30 (typ. 25) %official% by volume: 25–35 %official
Always; universal medium-evaporation thinner.
Dealer lists 20–30 % for both weight and volume; official site gives 20–30 % by weight = 25–35 % by volume. Go by spray viscosity, 18–22 s DIN4.
- S100Thinner% by weight: 5–10 %dealer
Only when needed to improve flow-out: heat, draughts, large flat panels, solvent pop/bubbles in summer.
Dealer: 'use small amounts of S100 retarder (5–10 %) in addition to the main thinner'. Official S100 page: prevents air bubbles in the film in summer. Slows drying — more dust pick-up and more sag risk.
- S80Thinner% by weight: 20–30 %
Not listed by Technocolor for PTL80; fallback only above ~25 °C when S100 is not at hand.
Prefer the listed S50 + 5–10 % S100.

- Sanding between coats · Why ru
- Дилер шлифует ПУ изолирующий грунт P280–P320 перед PTL80 M; когда PTL80 сам служит изолирующим грунтом, плёнка тоньше/твёрже → P320–P400 (P400 перед финишем с блеском 10–20).
- Gun distance
- 15–20 cmrecommended
Fan fully open, 50–75 % overlap. Don't overload the finish coat: low-sheen lacquers (10–40 gloss) go glossier and sag when laid on thick.

- Self-sealing schedule · Why ru
- Официальная страница говорит, что PTL80 может служить сам себе изолирующим грунтом, но схемы не даёт; составлено по официальным соотношениям, времени сушки дилера и стандартной практике шлифовки PU.
- Sanding · Between coats
- P320–P400
- Sanding · Final
- do not sand/polish the final low-sheen coat
- Sanding · Why ru
- Низкоглянцевые (10–40 глосс) финишные покрытия не полируются — следы шлифования видны как блестящие/матовые пятна.

- Temperature and humidity · Why ru
- Все данные Technocolor приведены для 20 °C; стандартное окно для 2К ПУ. При температуре выше ~25 °C добавьте 5–10 % S100.
- Don'ts
- Don't change the hardener ratio (PC10 50 % by weight, fixed)
- Don't use past pot life (4 h at 20 °C) — never thin down mix that has started to thicken
- Don't brush it — dries far too fast (no source lists brushing)
- Not for exterior use, and test first over white/pale stains — the aromatic hardener yellows
- Don't polish the final low-sheen coat
- It is not PTL50 (the thixotropic one) — PTL80 flows and will sag on verticals if overloaded
Storage
- Storage temperature
- 5–30 °Crecommended
Safety: Solvent-borne 2K PU: highly flammable; the hardener contains isocyanates. Spray in a ventilated booth, wear an A2P2 carbon-filter respirator (air-fed is better), nitrile gloves and eye protection. Keep the hardener tightly closed — it reacts with air moisture.
