LNB17 Hardener for polyurethane coatings

Milesi isocyanate hardener (part B) for 2K polyurethane primers/sealers. Dealer: "used as the second component of polyurethane primers". In the Milesi TDS for LBA45 sealer the LNB17 option is the one for excellent filling power and resistance to wrinkling, whereas LNB20 is the one for yellowing resistance. Not described anywhere on the Technocolor site; it turns up as the catalyst for LBA1 primer (50–70 %) under the LUA460–468 acrylic lacquers.

  • Part B for PU primers/sealers
  • LBA1 primer catalysed 50–70 % with LNB17 as the base under LUA460–LUA468 acrylic lacquers (dealer series note)
  • LBA45 clear PU sealer — 50 % by weight / 50.8 % by volume (Milesi TDS)

LNB17 is a component, not a base: proportions are set on the base material's page. No base in the catalog lists a ratio for LNB17 yet — see the table below.

LBA1 PU primer under LUA460–468 acrylic lacquers, where a well cross-linked primer is required

LBA1 has no Technocolor page and no hit in the dealer search; source is the series note on the LUA468 page. Toward 70 % gives a tighter cross-link and less risk of the lacquer lifting the primer.

Thinner in this recipe: LZC1026 20 % by weight / 23 % by volume. For a non-yellowing version Milesi uses LNB20; for faster, harder film LNB42.

Milesi standard (fast) PU reducer for sealers/primers

Use Milesi LZC PU thinners only; for poor flow-out or bubbles/pinholes add more or slower LZC (e.g. LZC8643/LZC70); in hot weather up to 5 % LTZ40 retarder may be added instead of switching thinner.

Don'ts
  • don't use it in acrylic lacquers or white non-yellowing systems — use AC40/AC41/LNB99/LNB20 there
  • don't leave the can open — moisture ruins the hardener
  • don't use the mix past its pot life (~3 h)
  • don't apply below 15 °C

Safety: Contains isocyanates and solvents; flammable. Spray booth with extraction, A2P2 respirator (air-fed preferred), nitrile gloves, goggles; may cause respiratory sensitisation. Spark-proof equipment, no smoking. Keep the can tightly closed.
