LUA468

LUA468 2K acrylic lacquer, dead matt (3 gloss)

Two-pack clear acrylic lacquer (cured with the non-yellowing LNB99 hardener) with a dead-matt 3 ± 2 gloss — about as close to a 'no-finish' look as a lacquer gets. High physical and chemical resistance and wear resistance, good elasticity, wetting and lightfastness, with a smooth, pleasant feel. Flows out well and resists scratches, chemicals and solvents. Copes with swings in humidity and temperature, so it suits kitchen doors, bathroom furniture and carcass furniture. Works for both open-pore and closed-pore finishes.

  • kitchen cabinet doors
  • bathroom furniture
  • carcass / case furniture
  • open-pore and closed-pore furniture finishes
  • topcoat over pale, chemically bleached or stained timber where you want a natural, barely-there finish

  • LNB99Hardener
    % by weight: 10 %official% by volume: 10 %official

Standard catalysis — use this unless you need extra chemical resistance.

LNB99 is a non-yellowing hardener for acrylics (32 ± 1 % solids, dealer). Fine on chemically bleached substrates. Pot life 3–4 h at 20 °C. Hardener is on part A only; keep the ratio identical across a job — at 3 gloss a change in catalysis shows.

  • LNB99Hardener
    % by weight: 20 %dealer

When you need higher resistance to chemical agents (kitchens, bathrooms, surfaces cleaned with chemicals).

Drying gets noticeably faster and the matting drops — about 5 gloss shinier (so ~8 instead of 3). Don't mix 10 % and 20 % parts within one set of furniture.

  • LZC8643Thinner
    % by weight: 20–30 (typ. 25) %official% by volume: 20–30 (typ. 25) %official

The only official thinner for LUA468. 20 % for curtain coating, airmix and verticals; 30 % for fine HVLP/conventional spraying.

LZC8643 is a slow PU thinner for PU and acrylic materials: good flow-out and an even matt, but it stays open longer and catches more dust. Don't overbuild a matt coat — the sheen goes patchy.

  • LTC22Additive
    % by weight: 4 %dealer

Optional — to protect the timber from UV colour change (pale species, bleached oak, maple, birch, pieces near windows).

UV-filtering additive. No LTC22 page found on t-color.ru or t-colormarket.ru — check availability with the dealer.

Sanding between coats

Gun 15–20 cm off, 50–75 % overlap, fan fully open. Stir part A thoroughly — the matting agent settles. Lay an even, wet coat with no dry spray: on a 3-gloss clear dry spray shows as patches and haze.

The best choice for production runs of doors: high transfer, a soft fan and an even matt. Technocolor's methods page rates airmix as better suited to finish coats than airless.

Nozzle
0.23–0.28 mm (09–11 thou tip)recommended
Pressure · fluid
80–120 barrecommended
Consumption
100–120 g/m² per coatofficial

Not recommended for a dead-matt topcoat: coarse fan and high output give an uneven sheen. Technocolor's methods page points airless mainly at primers on large flat parts.

Electrostatic

Works with any spray system (conventional, airless, airmix, per Technocolor's methods page); most often used on chairs, table legs and cots. The manufacturer doesn't publish mix conductivity: test on a sample first and raise the share of LZC8643 if needed.

Wet film

Spray viscosity

For flat and slightly profiled parts, typically doors, side panels and shelves (Technocolor's methods page). Watch the viscosity in the loop: as the slow thinner evaporates the mix thickens, so top up against the cup. Mind the 3–4 h pot life.

Process and compatibility

Substrate preparation
Goes over a primer/sealer, not bare timber. Sand the primer P320–P400, de-dust, degrease if needed.recommended
Sanding
Intercoat denib at P320–P400, only once the film powders instead of clogging the paper (normally next day, ≥ 8–12 h). The same day, the next coat can go on without sanding after 1–2 h. Don't sand or polish the final coat.recommended
Don'ts
  • don't mix 10 % and 20 % LNB99 parts in one job — the gloss differs
  • don't lay it on thick for build — the matt goes uneven
  • don't sand or polish the final coat
  • don't use the mix past its 3–4 h pot life
  • don't apply over uncured LJA99 or under-catalysed PU primers

Storage

Storage temperature

Safety: Two-pack solvent-borne material: flammable; LNB99 hardener contains isocyanates. Spray in an extracted booth with a carbon-filter respirator (A2/P2 or air-fed), nitrile gloves and eye protection. No smoking, earth the equipment. Don't seal leftover mixed material in a closed can.
