LUA462
LUA462 Acrylic lacquer, 35 gloss
Two-pack clear acrylic (acrylic-PU) lacquer by MILESI, 35 gloss — the semi-matt member of the LUA460–468 series. Flows out very well, resists scratches, chemicals and solvents. Cured with the non-yellowing LNB99 hardener (10–20 %), thinned with the slow PU thinners LZC8643 or LZC70 (20–30 %). Applied by spray (100–120 g/m²) or curtain coater (120–140 g/m²).
- Clear semi-matt (35 gloss) furniture topcoat — spray or curtain coater
- Over well-sanded polyester primers (460–468 series, per dealer)
- Over well-crosslinked PU primers such as LBA1 (catalysed 50–70 % LNB17) or over fully cured LJA99
- On chemically bleached wood — with LNB99 hardener
- Open-pore or closed-pore finishes (per dealer page of series sibling LUA468)

Mixing matrix
- LNB99Hardener% by weight: 10–20 %official% by volume: 10–20 %official
Normal catalysis for general furniture — 10–15 %.
LNB99 is MILESI's non-yellowing hardener for acrylics.
- LNB99Hardener% by weight: 20 %dealer% by volume: 20 %dealer
For extra chemical resistance (kitchens, bathrooms); suitable over chemically bleached wood.
Dealer series note: «at this catalysis the drying speed is substantially reduced (сокращается) and the mattness drops — about 5 gloss shinier» — i.e. ≈40 GU instead of 35. The drying wording is ambiguous in Russian (most likely a translation of 'drying time is reduced', i.e. faster drying). Shorter pot life is our inference, not from the source.
- LZC8643Thinner% by weight: 20–30 %official% by volume: 20–30 %official
Default thinner: slow PU thinner — good flow-out on satin/semi-matt flats.
For curtain coating stay at the low-to-mid end and set viscosity by cup to suit the machine.
- LZC70Thinner% by weight: 20–30 %official% by volume: 20–30 %official
Alternative slow PU thinner (listed officially alongside LZC8643).
Both are slow PU thinners for PU and acrylic materials; neither changes cure time. Note: LZC70 is listed officially only for LUA460 and LUA462; the other series members list LZC8643 only.
- LTC22Additive% by weight: 4 %dealer
When the wood itself must be protected from UV colour change (pale species, maple, beech, bleached wood).
UV-filtering additive; recommendation for the 460–468 series.

Application
HVLP
- Consumption
- 100–120 g/m²official
- Coats
- 1 finish coat over sanded primer (2 for a fuller film, denib between)recommended
- Recoat
- wet-on-dry after ≈1–2 h, or next day after denibrecommended
- Sanding between coats
- P400–P600 denib only if a second coat is applied; never sand/polish the final 35-gloss coatrecommended
15–20 cm distance, 50 % overlap, one even wet coat. 100–120 g/m². Stir before and during use — the matting agent settles.
Conventional spray
- Consumption
- 100–120 g/m²official
Conventional air spray: universal, transfer efficiency up to ~40 % (methods page).
Airmix (air-assisted airless)
- Consumption
- 100–120 g/m²official
Airmix is preferred over airless for topcoats (methods page).
Airless
Not ideal for a semi-matt topcoat — official methods page recommends airless for primers; use Airmix/HVLP for the finish.
Electrostatic
Any spray system (air, airless, airmix) can be electrostatic; typical for chairs and legs (methods page). Check the mix's electrical resistivity with the chosen thinner with the supplier (our advice, not on the methods page).
Curtain coater
- Consumption
- 120–140 g/m²official
Curtain coater — flat fronts, sides, shelves; set viscosity to suit the machine. Official methods page: 70–300 g/m² depending on head setup.
Process and compatibility
- Substrate preparation
- Apply over well-sanded polyester primer, or over a well-crosslinked PU primer such as LBA1 (catalysed 50–70 % LNB17), or over fully cured LJA99.dealer
- Goes over
- polyester primers (sanded) / LBA1 + LNB17 50–70 % / LJA99 (fully cured)
- Sanding
- Primer: P280–P320 (P320–P400 is fine under a semi-matt finish), de-dust. Do not sand the final coat.recommended
- Don'ts
- Don't swap LNB99 for Technocolor hardeners (AC40 etc.)
- Don't exceed 20 % hardener or 30 % thinner
- Don't apply over green/under-cured LJA99 or poorly crosslinked PU primers
- Don't sand or polish the final 35-gloss coat
- Don't use the mix past its pot life

- No official or dealer technical data for LUA462 itself: not listed at t-colormarket.ru (search LUA462 / 'LUA 462' returns nothing); woodonline.ru, lakokraska31.ru, ndom31.ru also had no product hit
- Solids, viscosity, pot life, drying times are DERIVED from the LUA468 sibling (dealer) — need a real LUA462 TDS
- Density not published

- Shelf life, storage temperature, packaging sizes not published for LUA462
- No TDS/SDS PDF found (web search budget exhausted in this run; direct dealer searches negative)
