CTH9
CTH9 water-based transparent dye, black (concentrate)
Transparent water-reducible wood dye in black, supplied as a concentrate. Gives bright, saturated, deep tones while keeping the grain visible. The CTH series resists settling, so it suits dip tanks on production lines; CTH dyes can be added to water-based lacquers (children's furniture, toys) and used to tint UV sealers and special effects.
- Staining furniture and chairs under clear lacquer while keeping the grain (official site; beech-chair schedule)
- Dip staining of chairs and spindle furniture on a line (catalog: settling-resistant; CFH2 binder)
- Tinting water-based lacquers
- Tinting the first UV coat on parquet: VTS20000 + CTH 5–10 %
- Tinting the HTL10001 'Frost' special effect (special-effects catalog)
- Darkening or toning down other CTH dyes (recommendation)

Mixing matrix
- waterThinner% by weight: 500–600 % of concentrateofficial% by volume: 500–600 % of concentrateofficial
Standard let-down for spraying and dipping
Clean, ideally demineralised water. More water = lighter tone. 'default 500' is a recommendation for the deepest black.
- waterThinner% by weight: 500–1000 % of concentratecatalog
Catalog value for the whole CTH series: up to 1000 % for a lighter, greyish tone
Catalog doesn't say by weight or volume — for water the difference is small.
- waterThinner% by weight: 400–600 % of concentratecatalog
2022 catalog for the CTH series: water 400–600 %; 'can be diluted with water in any proportion'
Older catalog; current values are the product page (500–600 %) and the 2025 catalog (500–1000 %).
- % by weight: 0–200 % of concentratecatalog
2022 catalog: binder CFH1, CFH2 0–200 % on CTH dye
The official schedules use more binder (CFH2 800 %, CFH1 400 %) — the catalog range is older or refers to dye without extra water.
- CFH2 / waterAdditive% by weight: CTH 100 : CFH2 800 : water 1200 %schedule
Schedule 'Beech chairs (PU)': stain 80–100 g/m², dry 30 min at 20–25 °C, then PTS50 + C50 + S80 primer
CFH2 is the water-based dipping binder: evens out colour and locks the dye before priming. Tone is much lighter than at 500 % water.
- CFH2 / waterAdditive% by weight: CFH2 40 % + water 60 % + CTH 1–10 %dealer
Dip bath (dealer: approximate recipe CFH2 40 % / water 60 % / CTH series 1–10 %)
Matches the beech-chair schedule: CFH2 800 + water 1200 = 40/60, CTH 100 ≈ 5 % of the bath. For black, use the top of the range (8–10 %) (recommendation). CFH2 itself reduces with water 800–1200 % (dealer).
- CFH1 / waterAdditive% by weight: CTH 100 : CFH1 400 : water 1000 %schedule
Schedule on the 'otdelka-stoleshnits-…' page (headed 'Open-pore oak kitchen fronts (Acr.)'): spray 80–100 g/m², dry 20 min at 20–25 °C, then PTS60 + C26 + S50 primer
CFH1 is the spray/wipe binder; reduces grain raise and dye lift by the primer.
- VTS20000Additive% by weight: 5–10 % CTH in VTS20000schedule
Schedule 'Parquet (UV)': tinted first coat 8–10 g/m², 5 min at 30–35 °C, then VTS20011 filler
Roller-coat line.
- HTL10001Additive
'Frost' effect: PPS20 primer → PU RAL enamel → HTL10001 tinted with CTH water dyes → ATL20 SM lacquer
- water-based lacquerAdditive
Catalog: CTH dyes can be added to water-based lacquers
Recommendation: start at 1–3 % into the lacquer and test on a sample — over ~5 % costs clarity and can hurt intercoat adhesion.

Short immersion, hang over the tank to drain, wipe drips off lower edges. Use the CFH2 binder in the tank (see mix). CTH does not settle, but stir the tank now and then and watch strength (water evaporates and the tone darkens). Good for chairs and spindle furniture (methods page).
Flow coating

Flow coating is meant for stains (methods page); use dip strength and consumption (recommendation).

Process and compatibility
- Substrate preparation · Sanding

- Substrate preparation · Grain raise

- Goes over
- bare sanded wood
- Sanding
- Don't sand the dye itself — sand the first primer coat (K120 / P240–P320 per the schedules). Black dye rubs through to pale wood on edges easily.recommended
- Temperature and humidity
- 15–25 °C, RH 50–70 %, not below +10 °Crecommended
- Don'ts
- Do not let it freeze
- Do not flood it on — blotches, runs and tide marks
- Do not reduce with solvents — water only
- Do not use outdoors or in strong sun without testing — it's a dye, not a pigment (use the CPH series there)
Storage
- Storage temperature
- 5–30 °Crecommended
Safety: Water-based. Gloves and a spray respirator when spraying; don't pour down the drain. Stains skin and clothes badly. (No SDS found.)
