PTL50 G
PTL50 G Thixotropic 2K PU clear lacquer (semi-gloss, 60 gloss)
Two-pack clear polyurethane lacquer with thixotropic body for vertical and carved/turned work. Hangs on verticals without runs or sags yet still flows out to a clean finish. Fast drying, pleasant to the touch. Cured 2:1 with an aromatic PU hardener (50 % by weight).
- chairs and armchairs
- carved, turned and profiled furniture parts
- vertical work (legs, frames, routed doors)
- furniture in any wood species (beech, oak, etc.)

Mixing matrix
- PC20Hardener% by weight: 50 %official% by volume: 50 %official
default — fixed 2:1 ratio
PC20 is an aromatic, fairly reactive, fast-drying hardener (28 ± 1 % solids). Weigh it, don't eyeball it.
- PC25Hardener% by weight: 50 %dealer% by volume: 50 %dealer
dealer-listed alternative to PC20
PC25 'universal' — aromatic, 28 ± 1 % solids; slightly less yellowing than PC20 on the catalogue scale.
- % by weight: 25–30 %official% by volume: 25–30 %official
S50 by default in a normal shop; S70/S80 are slow — hot shop (>25 °C), big parts, dead-matt or gloss grades
S50: medium evaporation, good solvency. S70/S80: slow — more sag risk on verticals and more dust pick-up.
- S50Thinner% by weight: 20–30 %catalog
2025-26 catalogue, whole PTL50 line
Catalogue allows down to 20 % — for maximum hold on verticals.
- S100Additive% by weight: 5–10 %dealer
hot weather — small amount on top of the main thinner to improve flow-out
S100 is a very slow retarder; per its official page it prevents solvent bubbles in summer. Lengthens drying.
- % by weight: 50 %schedule
official schedule 'Beech chairs (PU)', step 10 — topcoat at 150 g/m², dry 2 h at 30–35 °C
'C50' in the schedule isn't in the current range; the dealer's URLs use c20/c25 for PC20/PC25, so C50 looks like a legacy name of a PC-series PU hardener. In practice use PC20/PC25 at 50 %.

Ground the part. Check mixed-paint resistivity with the gun maker's meter; slow thinners (S70/S80) can push it out of the window — switch to S50 if the wrap drops off.

Airless
Not for a topcoat — the official methods page puts airless on primers for big flat panels.
Process and compatibility

- Goes over
- PTS50 / CTH (stain)
- Sanding
- PTS50 primer P280–P320 (dealer; K120 in the chair schedule). Don't sand or polish the PTL50 topcoat; if a 2nd coat is needed, P320–P400 between.recommended
- Temperature and humidity
- 18–25 °C, RH 50–70 %. Forced dry 30–35 °C (schedule, 2 h). Above 25 °C swap S50 for S70/S80 and/or add 5–10 % S100.recommended
- Don'ts
- Don't use it on large flat horizontals — thixotropic lacquer levels poorly: open pores and orange peel (official characteristics page)
- Don't use mixed lacquer after 4 h
- Don't change the 2:1 hardener ratio — weigh it
- Avoid over white/pale work where yellowing matters (aromatic hardener)
- Don't load more than 150 g/m² per coat

Safety: Solvents + aromatic isocyanate hardener: spray in a ventilated booth, A2 respirator or air-fed mask, gloves, goggles. Keep away from ignition sources.
