PPL50 M

PPL50 M White thixotropic PU enamel (20 gloss, matt)

Two-pack white polyurethane matt enamel (20 gloss), thixotropic. Excellent hiding, hangs on verticals without runs or sags, good physical and chemical resistance. A topcoat for vertical spraying, including carvings and complex shapes.

  • White matt topcoat on vertical surfaces (fronts, doors, panels)
  • Carvings and complex-shaped parts
  • Furniture fronts and panels in wood and MDF

the only listed hardener — always

All sources agree: 50 % by weight = 60 % by volume. Weigh it; Technocolor lists no other hardener for PPL50.

S50: medium evaporation, good solvency, made for matt PU enamels (catalog). Doesn't change cure time.

  • S70Thinner
    % by weight: 20–30 %catalog

Catalog also allows S70 (slow evaporation; its thinner table targets deep-matt and high-gloss PU). Use in heat (above ~25 °C) and on big panels — that usage is our interpretation.

A slow thinner raises sag risk on verticals even with thixotropy — stay at the low end. Official page and dealer list S50 only.

Fan fully open, 50–75 % overlap, 10–13 CFM. One full wet pass on verticals — thixotropy holds it, but don't go past 150 g/m² per pass. Stir part A thoroughly before mixing (dealer).

Not ideal for a topcoat: coarser atomisation, overbuild risk on verticals.

Process and compatibility

Sanding
Between coats P320–P400 or grey pad; never sand or polish the final coat.recommended
Temperature and humidity
18–25 °C, RH 50–70 %; above ~25 °C swap S50 for S70 (catalog), no more than 30 %.recommended
Don'ts
  • Don't change hardener: PC60 only, 50 % by weight
  • Weigh, don't eyeball
  • Don't lay more than 150 g/m² per pass
  • Don't sand or polish the final matt coat
  • Don't spray the mix more than 4 h after mixing
  • Don't blend with other gloss levels without a test panel (PPL50 SM/SG are separate products)
