ATL60180 SM
ATL60180 SM Clear acrylic converter for exterior use (30 gloss)
Clear two-pack solvent-borne acrylic (acrylic-PU, cured with the aliphatic isocyanate AC40) converter for exterior work — the base for tinting bright, saturated-colour enamels with CS pigment pastes. Highly elastic, weather- and lightfast, mechanically tough; non-yellowing, chemically resistant, high solids.
- Base for bright, saturated exterior enamels
- Timber houses, fences, window frames, gazebos and other exterior timber
- Exterior surfaces that take mechanical wear

Mixing matrix
- AC40Hardener% by weight: 40 %catalog
Always — this is a two-pack material.
Fixed 40 %, don't eyeball it: short hardener kills weather resistance. AC40 is aliphatic, the most non-yellowing hardener in the range (catalog p.19). The 2019 catalog prints "С40" — same AC40, old label/typo.
- S50Thinner% by weight: 20–30 (typ. 25) %catalog
Standard choice at 18–25 °C. S50 = medium evaporation, for PU/acrylic primers, matt lacquers and enamels (catalog p.19).
The 2019 catalog gives the same 20–30 % S50.
- S80Thinner% by weight: 20–30 %recommended
Above ~25 °C, large panels/cladding, dry air — to stop dry spray and orange peel.
Slower — more dust pick-up and sag risk on verticals. Doesn't change cure time. Not a Technocolor-listed option — test panel first.

Tinting the converter into an enamel (RAL/NCS) to a SPECTRUM recipe.
CS pastes are the solvent-system (PU/acrylic) range per the SPECTRUM tinting leaflet. Add paste to part A and mix BEFORE the hardener. Technocolor publishes no max paste loading.

Process and compatibility
- Substrate preparation
- Exterior wood: dry, clean, dust-free; sand solid wood P150–P180. If it will see weather, apply a preservative (CTH100/CPH6) first and let it dry fully (official wood-prep page: impregnate wood exposed to moisture).recommended
- Sanding
- Between coats P320–P400; denib P400–P600 before the last coat; never sand the final 20/30-gloss coat.recommended

- Don'ts
- Don't brush or roll — spray only is listed.
- Don't change the AC40 ratio — 40 % fixed.
- Don't tint with water-based CH pastes — CS (solvent) only.
- Don't spray over wet wood or above 75 % RH.
- Don't sand or polish the 20/30-gloss final coat.
Storage
- Storage temperature
- +5…+25 °C, tightly closed, away from heat; keep AC40 sealed from moisture.recommended
- Packaging

Safety: Flammable, solvent-borne; AC40 hardener contains isocyanates. Spray in an extracted booth, wear an A2P2 carbon respirator (air-fed is better), nitrile gloves and goggles. No naked flames. (Generic 2K acrylic-PU precautions — no Technocolor SDS found.)
