APL R9005 M
Acrylic enamel, Jet Black RAL 9005 (20 gloss)
Two-pack acrylic enamel (cured with AC40), factory-tinted to Jet Black RAL 9005, 20 gloss. Tough, flows out well in thin coats, flexible and shows the open grain nicely. Use it as a top coat in its own right or as the black ground under special effects (chrome; for pearl the catalog names the PU analogue PPL RAL 9005) and light-coloured patina.

- bathroom furniture
- top coat
- black ground for the chrome effect (and pearl — the catalog specifies the PU enamel PPL RAL 9005 for pearl)
- ground coat under light patina (decapé)

Mixing matrix
- AC40Hardener% by weight: 10–20 (typ. 15) %dealer% by volume: 15–25 %dealer
always — it's a 2K system
Catalog, dealer (APL R9003 M) and the official APL20 M base page all give 10–20 % w/w (15–25 % v/v). Go towards 20 % for kitchen/bath resistance (the decapé schedule uses 20 %); 15 % midpoint is a sensible default (none published).
- S50Thinner% by weight: 30–40 %dealer% by volume: 40–50 %dealer
default: universal thinner, normal conditions, verticals
S50 is normal-evaporation, the default. Doesn't change cure time.
- S80Thinner% by weight: 30–40 %catalog% by volume: 40–50 %official
above ~25 °C, large flat panels
Catalog and the official APL20 M base page list S50/S80; the dealer APL R9003 M card lists S50 only. S80 is slow — better levelling but more dust pick-up and sag risk.
- S50Thinner% by weight: 40–50 %dealer
open-pored timber (oak, ash) — better colour and pore definition; apply 200–250 g/m²
Dealer note (APL R9003 M card; text names APL R1013 M by mistake — shared APL RAL series text). Dealer just says 'thin by 40–50 %' without stating the basis; read as % by weight on part A, like the main table.
- AC40Hardener% by weight: 20 %schedule
schedule 'Oak kitchen fronts, decapé effect (acrylic)', step 7 — 'APL20 (RAL,NCS)'
Schedule writes 'C40' — read AC40. Schedule is for tinted APL20; APL R9005 M is the same enamel ready-tinted.
- S50Thinner% by weight: 30 %schedule
same decapé schedule, step 7

Spray application per catalog (spray-gun icon, 150 g/m²). Transfer efficiency only ~40 % (methods page) — more overspray, and dry overspray shows up instantly on black.

Airless

Not ideal for a finish coat — coarser atomisation; prefer airmix.
Electrostatic

- Страница методов: любая система распыления может работать в электростатике; подтверждения для конкретного продукта нет.
Works with any spray method — chairs, legs; check the mix conductivity first.

- Pore filling
- on oak/ash thin 40–50 % and apply 200–250 g/m² (for colour and pore definition — this is not pore filling)dealer
- Don'ts
- don't eyeball AC40 — weigh it
- don't use the mix past 6 h pot life
- don't brush — spray only
- don't sand or polish the final 20-gloss coat — patchy sheen is glaring on black
- don't sand coarser than P400 before the final coat — scratches telegraph through black

Safety: Flammable solvent-borne coating; AC40 hardener is likely isocyanate-based. Spray in an extracted booth, A2P3 respirator (or air-fed), nitrile gloves. No naked flames.
