S60 Oil thinner / clean-up solvent

Thinner / clean-up solvent for Technocolor OTL alkyd-oil finishes. Per the dealer it has two jobs: (1) thinning the oil when needed — 5 % max; (2) cleaning brushes and rollers after oiling.

  • OTL10 priming oil — thin 5 % max, clean brush and roller
  • OTL20 interior oil — thin 5 % max, clean brush and roller
  • OTL60.10–OTL60.20 tinted terrace oil — brush clean-up
  • OTL90.10 white hardwax oil — brush clean-up

Mixing matrix

  • S60Thinner

Only if needed: oil thick from the cold, dense timber. Normally applied as supplied.

Oil is tinted with CL pastes (max 5 %) — don't overload the oil with additions in total.

  • S60Thinner

    Only if needed.

Also tints with CL pastes (max 5 %).

  • S60Thinner

By analogy with OTL10/OTL20; better applied neat.

    Not confirmed by the manufacturer.

Characteristics

Solvent type
алифатический углеводородный растворитель типа уайт-спирита / нефраса (предположительно) / aliphatic hydrocarbon, white-spirit / mineral-spirits type (presumed)recommended
Evaporation rate
medium–slow (expected, white-spirit-like)recommended
Effect on cure
does not speed drying; above 5 % it cuts solids and protectionrecommended
Compatibility
OTL oils only (thinning ≤ 5 %: OTL10, OTL20; tool clean-up: OTL10, OTL20, OTL60.10–OTL60.20, OTL90.10)dealer

Application

Brush

After oiling with OTL, rinse brushes and rollers in S60, squeeze out, repeat in a clean batch, then wash with soapy water. Rags and spent solvent go into a closed metal can.

Roller

Roller clean-up as for brushes (OTL10, OTL20).

Why ru
Объём промывки — стандартная практика для краскопультов с верхним бачком.

S60 is not sprayed on its own. To flush a gun after oil, run 100–200 ml of S60 through it.

Process and compatibility

Goes with
OTL10, OTL20, OTL60, OTL90
Temperature and humidity
OTL oils 10–35 °Cdealer
Don'ts
  • don't thin oil beyond 5 % S60 — protection and solids drop
  • don't use S60 in place of S30/S50/S70/S80 in PU, acrylic or polyester materials
  • don't thin OTL oils with PU thinners (S50/S80) — they are not specified for OTL
  • don't leave rags soaked in oil and solvent balled up — spontaneous combustion risk

Storage

Storage temperature
tightly closed, cool, away from ignitionrecommended

Safety: Expect a flammable liquid. Use with ventilation and gloves, away from ignition. Lay oily rags flat to dry outdoors or soak in water in a closed metal can.
