PPS01 Fire-retardant white PU primer

Two-pack white polyurethane primer with fire-retardant additives for timber structures indoors. Fast drying, high solids (71 %), sands easily. When heated, the fire-retardant components break down and release a non-combustible gas that starves the fire of oxygen and slows flame spread. As the PPS01 primer + PPL01 enamel system it rates Group I fire-retardant efficiency to GOST R 53292-2009 (cl. 6.1). No official t-color.ru page - data from t-colormarket.ru and the Technocolor catalogues.

  • fire protection / improved fire resistance of interior timber structures
  • primer under the white fire-retardant enamel PPL01 (pigmented system, Group I)
  • public interiors needing certified fire protection: wall panelling, doors, cladding, stairs

  • PC20Hardener
    % by weight: 50 %dealer% by volume: 60 %dealer

standard hardener (dealer and catalogue list PC20 only)

Fixed ratio - 50 % by weight, weigh it. By volume it's 60 %. Stir the base thoroughly first: the filler settles.

  • PC60Hardener
    % by weight: 50 %catalog% by volume: ≈ 60 %recommended

allowed alternative per the fire-retardant leaflet - prefer PC20, as the dealer specifies

PC60 is non-yellowing; under white enamel that doesn't matter for a primer. The fire certification was most likely run on PC20 - confirm with Technocolor before swapping.

  • S50Thinner
    % by weight: 20–30 (typ. 25) %dealer% by volume: 30–40 %dealer

universal, normal-evaporation thinner - the default

20 % for verticals and maximum build; 30 % if the gun spits on a 1.5-1.7 mm tip or it won't level on flats.

  • S80Thinner
    % by weight: 20–30 %recommended

hot shop (above ~25 °C), large panels

Not from Technocolor documentation. More dust pick-up and sag risk on verticals.

Spray, 150 g/m². 1.8-2.0 mm tip; a 1.5 mm won't atomise it well - if that's all you have, thin to 30 % S50 and accept less build per pass. 15-20 cm, 50 % overlap. Stir the base thoroughly before mixing.

Brush

Дилер и оба каталога указывают только распыление.

Not recommended: Technocolor specifies spray only; a brush won't lay an even 150 g/m², which the fire rating depends on. Touch-up only.

Process and compatibility

Substrate preparation
Wood/MDF at 8-12 % MC, sanded P150-P180 (solid) or P180-P220 (MDF), de-dusted. No oil, wax or old finish - the fire rating assumes application to bare wood.recommended

Sanding

Don'ts
  • don't eyeball the hardener - 50 % by weight
  • don't use the mix past 3-4 h
  • don't sand before full dry (8 h)
  • don't skimp - below 150 g/m² per layer the fire rating isn't guaranteed
  • don't topcoat with ordinary (non-fire-retardant) enamels if you need the certified system
  • not for exterior use - interiors only
