PPL1 M

PPL1 M white PU converter (tint base), matt, 20 gloss

White matt (20 gloss) polyurethane converter for the SPECTRUM tinting system — the base for making coloured PU enamels (tinted with CS pastes by recipe). 2K: PC60 hardener 50 % by weight (60 % by volume), S50 thinner 20–30 % by weight (30–35 % by volume). High hiding power, good physical and chemical resistance. For interior furniture and other wood and MDF items.

  • Base for coloured PU enamels (tinted with CS pastes via SPECTRUM)
  • Interior furniture and joinery in wood and MDF
  • Doors, fronts, kitchens, tables, chairs, bathrooms (woodonline)

    % by weight: 50 %official% by volume: 60 %official

Always — the only hardener listed.

Fixed ratio: 50 % by weight (60 % by volume). Weigh it — too little leaves a soft film; extra hardener does not speed drying and hurts resistance.

  • S50Thinner
    % by weight: 20–30 (typ. 25) %official% by volume: 30–35 %official

Normal conditions (18–25 °C), vertical work — the default.

S50 is the universal normal-evaporation thinner. It does not change cure time.

  • S80Thinner
    % by weight: 20–30 %recommended

Above ~25 °C or big flat panels — only if you're getting dry spray.

Not listed by the maker for PPL1 — always do a test panel.

Stir the converter thoroughly before tinting and before catalysing (pigment and matting agent settle). After adding pastes, PC60 and S50 — stir, strain 125–190 µm, let stand 5–10 min.

Air spray is the universal, most common method; transfer efficiency up to 40 % (t-color.ru methods page).

Airmix is a hybrid: air-spray finish quality with airless productivity; better suited to the final coat than airless (t-color.ru methods page).

Airless

Per t-color.ru, airless is ideal for primers on large flat parts (up to 90 % transfer); airmix is better for a final coat (derived: HVLP too).

Don'ts
  • Don't tint with CH (waterborne) pastes
  • Don't eyeball the PC60 ratio
  • Don't sand or polish the final matt coat
  • Don't use the mix past its pot life
