LRA52
LRA52 Clear thixotropic polyester (PE) primer / sanding sealer
Clear thixotropic polyester primer: holds on vertical faces without sagging and sands easily. Cured with LOB810 peroxide hardener plus LOB828/LOB6AA1 accelerator (2 % each), thinned with S10/S11 (10 %). Spray at 150–200 g/m².
- build/pore-filling sealer under gloss and closed-pore finishes
- priming vertical surfaces, edges and doors where a standard PE primer would sag
- levelling coat under PU/PE lacquers and enamels (after sanding — it does not self-level well on flat panels)

Mixing matrix
- LOB828 / LOB6AA1Accelerator% by weight: 2 %official% by volume: 2 %official
Standard recipe (20 °C). Either accelerator, not both.
Stir the accelerator into the base first, then add LOB810. NEVER pour accelerator and hardener straight into each other — violent reaction, fire risk. Technocolor does not say how LOB828 and LOB6AA1 differ.
- LOB810Hardener% by weight: 2 %official% by volume: 2 %official
Standard hardener for polyester materials.
Dealer: 'hardener for polyester materials', made by MILESI.
- S10Thinner% by weight: 10 %official% by volume: 10 %official
Main thinner for PE primers: fast, strong solvency. Normal shop conditions, thin to medium coats.
S10: s.g. 0.790 ± 0.01, fast, also usable for gun cleaning (official). 2025-26 catalog: S10 is the PE-primer thinner.
- S11Thinner% by weight: 10 %official% by volume: 10 %official
Medium evaporation — for hot shops (above ~25 °C) and large panels so the film flows before it skins.
S11: s.g. 0.81 ± 0.01 (official); catalog lists it as medium-evaporation thinner for PE gloss lacquers.
- % by weight: 10–15 %recommended% by volume: 10–15 %recommended
If the mix spits or you are on a small tip — 15 % max.
More thinner = less build and less sag resistance.
- LOB5Hardener% by weight: 2 %recommended% by volume: 2 %recommended
Longer pot life needed: heat, big batches, airmix/airless; or heavy film builds.
Dealer LOB5: slow drying, even through-cure, extends pot life. Not an official LRA52 recipe — test panel first.

- Recoat
- second LRA52 coat after 30–40 min (gelled, still tacky-firm); topcoat only after sanding at ~12 hrecommended
- Sanding between coats
- none between PE coats laid wet-on-gel; after ~12 h sand P240→P320 under pigmented/PU topcoats, P360–P400 under clear glossrecommended
Stir well before filling the cup — the thixotropic primer stiffens at rest. Mix only 15–20 min worth; flush the gun with S10 straight after — cured PE won't wash out.
HVLP

15–20 cm distance, 50 % overlap. Heavy orange peel — don't thin past 15 %, fit a bigger tip instead.

Short PE pot life in a pump/hose is risky: small batches or slow LOB5 hardener (test first), flush with S10 on any break.

Process and compatibility
- Substrate preparation
- bare wood/veneer/MDF sanded P150–P180 (P220 on MDF), dust removed; wood moisture 8–12 %recommended
- Sanding
- after ~12 h at 20 °C: P240→P280→P320 under pigmented/PU gloss, P360–P400 under clear glossrecommended
- Temperature and humidity
- 18–25 °C material and room, RH ≤ 75 %; not below 15 °Crecommended
- Don'ts
- never pour LOB828/LOB6AA1 accelerator and LOB810 hardener into each other — add each to the base in turn
- don't mix more than you can spray in 15–20 min
- don't leave mixed material in the gun/hose — flush with S10 at once
- don't thin past 15 % — you lose thixotropy and build
- don't spray over oily/resinous species without an isolating primer
- don't go over a stain without a test panel — PE can shift the stain colour
- don't sand before ~12 h at 20 °C — paper clogs
- don't expect it to flow out on flat horizontal panels — thixotropic primer levels worse (orange peel, unfilled pores)
Storage
- Shelf life

Safety: Contains styrene — toxic and flammable. Spray in an extracted booth wearing an A2 organic-vapour respirator, gloves and goggles. LOB810 peroxide hardener is an oxidiser: store apart from the accelerator, never let them touch each other, rags or metal swarf. Eye splash — rinse and see a doctor. Soak rags with mixed material in water.
